I suppose this question can be boiled down to simply:-
"If a Quest is described as being 'Level 10', how many levels above that do
I need to be for that quest to become 'unavailable' to me?"
More specifically, I have a Level 65 Mage and my sights are set pretty
firmly on making it a level 70. However, I enjoyed EPL (and WPL) and would
have liked to have worked my way up the Argent Dawn ranks - however, the
lure of the Outlands 'got me'. So, when I get to level 70, and XP ceases to
matter, can I go back and do all the WPL and EPL quests? Or do I need to
think about doing it now, before the quests become 'unavailable' to me?
Any advice much appreciated. >> Stay informed about: Quest longevity. |

Once they become available, in general they are always available.
However, the problem you get is finding them. Once you get high
enough in level that they go gray, you can't find them by looking for
! marks over npc's heads. You have to instead talk to every single
npc you can find. Add in some quests that don't open until some other
quest is done, but isn't specifically linked in a chain, it could be a
pain. Still, you can look up quests for area's in thottbot or such
and use them to track the quests down.
But leveling up now won't prevent you doing the quests later.

What the other guy said, and keep in mind that at level 70 these
quests aren't going to offer you much of anything. No real challenge
as you will one-shot quite a few mobs. LIttle money as these quests
are so far below you in level. And the gear that used to be so great
before will now look like junk to you.
This weekend I went and did the warlocks Ritual of Doom questline.
These are level 60 group and dungeon quests, and I soloed them at
level 70.
My reward, 69 silver for turning in the quests, a +8 stamina 6 mana
per 5 seconds offhand, and the spell Ritual of Doom. I really only
did it to get that one last warlock spell. The money was laughable, I
can make that off a few mobs in Outland, and the offhand is nothing
compared to the stuff you can get now in Outland. >> Stay informed about: Quest longevity. |

As others have said already, quests are never undoable. Just like you
can still kill monsters after they go gray. At level 70 you can go
back to the newbie zone you started in and do a level 1 quest if you
want. You just won't get much of anything as far as variable rewards
go. You'll still get the fixed rewards, though.
But as for when stuff grays out, as far as I know it is when its level
is either 20% lower than yours or 5 levels lower, whichever is
greater. So at level 70 stuff that is level 56 or higher should be
green. >> Stay informed about: Quest longevity. |

that was the rule, but they changed a bit prior to BC.
AFAIK now level 61 is grey, 62 is green to a level 70.

Don't forget rep, though - still quite good even when you're quite a
bit above the quest level. When my NE priest hit 40, I spent a day
running around doing low level Stormwind, etc., quests for rep, so
that I could buy her a pretty little pinto to ride.
