Is there a way to expand the number of quests you can have in your quest log
beyond 25? If so, how? If not, why is there a limit (e.g., logged quests
affecting what loot a mob drops)?

I suspect the reason there is a limit is that each quest must have a
context the has to be saved. For example, if do a quest that requires
killing 12 Honest Lawyers, you might be able to find one or two but
it's going to take a long time to find all 12 (if it's possible at
all). So when you exit the system, the server needs to be able to
store the fact that you have killed 2.

The more quests you have the more information you need to store.

No.

Possibly to avoid overwhelming new players?

Nah, new players all have to start in the lvl 1 zones with everyone
else. You cant even get to 25 quests until you leave those zones.

My first character was a Night Elf and I did the quests around the
tree... then all the quests in Teldrassil, then on to darkshore, and
then ashenvale. I didn't have 25 quests simultaneously until I was
questing in multiple areas, like ashenvale and wetlands or something.
By that point I think even a new player wouldn't be overwhelmed by the
# of quests.

I think it is just to keep you from loading up on every quest you
find, and then doing them in whatever order you please. This keeps the
experienced players from flying through TONS of quests for fast
leveling. It forces you to chose what quests and areas to focus on.
When I'm at 25/25 I'll dump a red quest or a quest in a zone I don't
particularly want to go to. (As im sure most people do.)

Either way, it's a deliberate restriction by Blizzard. They could
easily change it if they wanted, but they probably wont.

It's not uncommon running around in Outlands with 20+ group quests. Neutral

(I still need to finish Underbog with my lvl70 druid...)

I was told it was to keep the player focused. In EQ2 and GW you can
have hundreds of concurrent quests, it's very easy to totally forget
you have some.

Mind you in WoW you are forced to drop quests because of the
restriction and its just as easy to forget them and never pick them up
again.
