Correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't get to hold two qualifiers? >> Stay informed about: Qreat Lakes Region Qualifier |

Two qualifiers have been held for the last couple of years, yes.
Last year there was some discussion that this years' qualifiers would
be held in Michigan and Chicago, although nothing official has been
said yet.

I believe your correct John,
Michigan and Chicago had said that they were interested in running
them this year.
However, I would like to start making definite plans a little sooner
this year with everyone.

Last year two Great Lakes Qualifiers were held. One in central Ohio,
the other in West Lafayette, Indiana. Other venues were interested in
hosting last year, and missed out. Those places were: Chicagoland,
and two stores in Michigan.
This year, I think it would be great if GLQ West was held in the
Chicago area, and GLQ East in Michigan. I would love to see
finalized details on each event as soon as possible so that travel
plans can be made. Those who are interested in hosting, PLEASE
take action quickly.

I've seen a lot of interest in running one of the qualifiers in
Madison.
We're still talking to the Minnesota group about dates and venues.
I'm pretty flexible about the qualifiers, but I wouldn't mind seeing
the GLQ West moved a little further West to spread out the player
base.

A little birdie told me the guys in Flint, MI, are investigating
whether or not they can feasibly host a GLRQ there. If it is
determined that the town has the facilities to support an event, I
would anticipate they'll make an offer.
The "little birdie" is actually their yahoo group, "FlintVTES". >> Stay informed about: Qreat Lakes Region Qualifier |

I would be the one hosting in Chicago, most likely. Our playgroup is
a little bit spread out at the moment, but we have a reasonable number
of people to support, and a few newer players for whom this experience
would be useful. The biggest advantage of Chicago is fairly
centralized location for both Wisconsin and Indiana. Minnesota might
be a tough sell for both Lafayette and Chicago players. Madison is
certainly better in that respect, though I will say that it has been a
while since Chicago had one. Lafayette has had two and Milwaukee one
since we last ran one.

I agree, Minnesota is simply out of the question for a GLQ.
I am putting my vote for Madison. It is equidistant from Virgina, MN
and Toledo, OH at 6.5 hours. It is also roughly the same travel time
from Detriot to Madison. This makes it about the most fair place as
far as travel is concerned. The extra time it would take to get to
Chicago, not to mention driving in a big city, and having to stay a
night in Chicago, would prevent those of use from the Frozen North
(6- from attending. Also, Madison is still close enough to the rest
of the region that they can attend if they wish. If it is in Chicago,
they still can attend two while those of us up here have a hassle to
get to one.

I wasn't trying to suggest robbing Chicago out of an opportunity. I
was just trying to find out more information. Now that I'm a dad and
such advanced planning is critical to me making th GLQ. >> Stay informed about: Qreat Lakes Region Qualifier |

I'm also interested in this information. If a qualifier was to be held
before May I'd certainly try to attend.
