When you use pushback (SHIFT-P) and then 1 or 2 to turn left or right. The
plane does not reponse right away. How come?

you have to push the 1 or 2 quickly..if you wait too long it will not work

I believe it responds after you press the button at the next planes length
from the point you press it.

What if I have to push a 777 or 747 from the gate back to the taxiway behind
it and make sure it turns correctly on the taxiway without hitting planes
parked next to it because the turn started to early or being push over the
taxiway because of turning late?

Bart

There doesn't seem to be much control over push-back with default aircraft.
Its either straight back or straight back with a left or right tail turn
after one aircraft length. Sometimes you need to do a straight pushback,
stop it then do another push-back with a turn to get the distance correct to
clear other parked aircraft.

Some payware aircraft allow more control. LevelD's 767 allows you to enter
a distance of pushback and angle of turn too.

I downloaded this morning ultboe22.zip for B747 from Flightsim.com and on
the panel is a pushback with the possibility to give length of pushback and
turn. The panel is a master piece.

In a situation like that let it taxi for the length you desire and then stop
the taxi...start it again then hit the 1 or 2 and it should clear your
traffic
A bit unrealistic but the only way using the default. I believe if you
search avsim you may find a push back gauge which will work for you

Another thing you could do is go to avsim.com and do a search for
"pvb20.zip" I use it all of the time.......

After you initiate pushback with shift-p you must not change the view, or
the viewpoint, before you initiate the turn with 1 or 2. The best way to
pushback is to go into spot view from above and ahead of the a/c - this way
you can see where you want to make the turn. The turn will happen 1 a/c
length after hitting the 1 or 2 key.
