Here is a list of Vampires that are listed as Promos -and- were
released during an expansion:

Baron, The
Duality **
Echo
Fatima al-Faqadi
Hesha Ruhadze
Kestrelle Hayes **
Lucita
Marcus Vitel
Sascha Vykos
Selena
White Lily **
Xaviar

Does anyone here remember or know which of these Promo cards can be
differentiated from their Expansion release?
Usually the Promo version wouldn't have the expansion symbol in the
top right corner of the card. However, I seem to remember around the
time of Fatima/Marcus/Lucita a Promo having an expansion logo. I also
seem to remember still being able to tell the difference because of
its exact location?

My memory is fuzzy, and when I looked through my collection, all I'm
finding is cards with expansion logos, proving nothing to me.

Note: The reason 3 of the cards up above have asterisks by them is
because I was able to find pictures on ebay of both versions (although
I'm not sure of each picture's source)

Also: I noticed that the Advanced Version of Hannibal is considered a
promo in the Full Card list, but is not listed on the Promo Card list
here:
http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=checklist_Promos

Thanks,
Terry

I have each of the promo copies of the vampires and not all of them
are easy to tell the difference from there pack copies.

I will list what I remember as there differences;

Fatima al-Faqadi Larger set symbol
Hesha Ruhadze Larger set symbol
Lucita Mine was slightly larger and darker then the one
from the set.
Xaviar Location of the clan symbol
Kestrelle Hayes Marked as crypt 4 instead of 5 and I believe is
missing the set symbol
Marcus Vitel One is glossy and one isn't
White Lily I believe is missing the set symbol
Duality I believe is missing the set symbol

The rest, I don't believe have a good means to determine the
difference between the promo and set copies.

Wow, that's right! I remember those few now. I used to know those
things, but not anymore. Probably around the time I quit playing, but
continued collecting...

Thanks for your answers (and to aaronmiller)
I'm both impressed and a little scared at your quick and effortless
responses Smile

No difference.

> Duality **
> White Lily **

No expansion symbol, and printed "right side up" (printed before the 3E
print run).

> Fatima al-Faqadi

Different font, and her promo text says "cannot commit diablerie", while her
Final Nights text says "Blood Cursed".

> Kestrelle Hayes **

Promo version has wrong grouping, and she is printed "upside down" (printed
with the 3E print run)

> Lucita

Promo version is physically larger than normal cards, and has a very different
font.

> Marcus Vitel

Promo Marcus has a shinier finish than Cam Edition Marcus.

> Xaviar

Has the Camarilla Edition green bar all the way up the side.

Happy to help.
(Hope I got this all correct Smile )

As already pointed out, Hesha (promo) does actually differ from Hesha
(FN). I don't have them in front of me, but I know the expansion
symbol on the promos for Final Nights is bigger than the expansion
symbol on the regular FN cards.

Just wanted to make sure that got on the record for anyone searching
this later.

I have compiled such a list for my collection purposes. It was based
on player's contributions to this newsgroup, on The Lasombra's list
and on my own observations. I just checked it against The Lasombra's
website and noticed that my list is more complete right now (Jeffrey,
if this is useful somehow, please feel free to use it).

Every difference I list is confirmed by comparing the actual cards,
but there might exist differences I haven't noticed.

Kestrelle Hayes:
- No set symbol.
- Promo has wrong grouping number (4, instead of 5).
- Back is printed "upside-down" (printed with 3rd Edition print run).

Duality and White Lilly:
- No set symbol.
- Back is printed "upside-up" (printed before 3rd Edition print run).

Echo:
- Promo is copyrighted 2004 (regular version is 2005).
- Promo is a bit lighter than regular version.
- There is a little line instead of a point in the "I" in the
illustrator's name (Rik Martin).

Young-Sun, Harmonist:
- No set symbol.
- Post-Camarilla Edition layout

Jessica Adv and Hannibal Adv:
- No set symbol.

Xaviar:
- Published in 2002 (regular version in 2003).
- Green sidebar extends to the top (Camarilla Edition layout).
- The Gangrel symbol is taller than in regular version.

Marcus Vitel:
- Card is darker and glossier (regular version has matte surface).

Fatima al-Faqadi:
- Bigger set symbol.
- Game text says "cannot commit diablerie". Non-promo text says "blood
cursed".

Hesha Ruhadze:
- Bigger set symbol.

Lucita:
- Only two lines of game text.
- Different font.
- Card is slightly taller.

Selena and Sascha Vykos, The Angel of Caine:
- No difference noticed between the promo and the regular version.

Abraço,

Luiz Mello
