Yes, it is annoying! I had to disable it to just uninstall a plain Jane
program. LOL I am the admin, the owner, the ONLY person who touches this
computer and it told me I didn't have permission to uninstall the program
that I was trying to. I forgot about that User Account Control and couldn't
figure out what to do for a few days. Then I read on one of the Microsoft
vista forums about somebody else having the same problem and sure enough, it
was that UAC....blah!!!
I've never heard of Comodo defense.......is that the name or your nick name
for it????

eeple - I do hope you don't mean that you packaged lots with Sims in them as
a form of backup and plan to reinstall said lots. VBT.

What's "The Program"? Sims 2 or Clean Installer? I have no idea what
crashed. The game or the installer?
Cheers!

If you copy and paste them and post them here, maybe someone can recognize
something that will help?

Ooh, not nice. Somebody will probably correct me but I thought exception
errors were usually system errors - which is no help to you. What might be a
help is that if you'll post the questionable lots here I will try to put
them into my machine and see what happens. If they crash here too you'll
know that it is most likely save corruption. Post the most original versions
you have (not cleaned and resaved - although you might have to zip or rar
them to get them up here).

Not here - this isn't the binary group.
Not that I could actually read the binary group yesterday, it took forever
to open even a text post.

Yes, my bad. Not here. Either mediafire (or some other such web hoster) or
try alt.binaries.games.thesims or alt.binaries.game.the-sims or
alt.binaries.games.the-sims-2

Best thing to do would be to get a mediafire account. It's free and that way
you won't be posting actual files here, only links. I'd be willing to put
them into my game as well.

Yes and yes. The reason for that is that they change the format that the
game uses to save with each EP. And even if you untick all the custom
content from the packaged lot, the lot file itself still calls for
everything you put in there when you built it. If people have the same
content in their game, it will all show up as you directed the game to save
the lot. If they only have part of it, only parts of the CC will show and
the rest will appear as whatever object the creator used to clone the mesh
from. There will be blank walls and floors, too.

The easiest thing to do, if you want to share lots and sims you've made, is
to create a second administrator account on XP or Vista (I suppose it works
the same way -- someone with Vista can correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure
they will. <g>) Switch accounts and start the game from the second
account. It has to be given administrator rights, though. My computer has
two accounts anyway, since my husband used to use this computer
occasionally, so every time I install a new EP, there is a shortcut on that
desktop, too. (I have mine pointing to the noCD cracked .exe file, though,
instead of that evil launcher that shipped with the game.) Anyway, that
second account will have NO downloads at all, so that's where I do my
building of lots I intend to share with others. The Maxis lot packager will
package up every mesh and recolor of every bit of custom content you put on
the lot, along with every recolor of any Maxis objects you included. It's
senseless, but that's the way they did it.

That is the Stay Things shrub by Inge which you will find at Simlogical.
http://www.simlogical.com/
Sims 2 Downloads (green button), then scroll down to the blue shrub by
"Moving," then "Moving House" on the next page. You want the third item on
that page.

Obviously blacklisting myself also stopped my messages appearing in the
group... Ugh! I must say it took some real talent to blacklist myself LOL
Load the files onto mediafire (mediafire.com - no www). The account is free
and you can upload quite a few files. My account is bulging at the seams and
it still hasn't reached it's limit, and I have all of Roth Point loaded on
there plus a bunch of other files, including sims, default eyes, a bunch of
houses, etc. Just upload it to a mediafire account then post a link here.
Whoever is willing to try the houses can then download without attempting to
attach the file to a message in binaries. Plus that doesn't work half the
time as not everyone gets all types of the binaries posts. I, for one, don't
get the ones that contain zips and rars, and I was willing to try chucking
the files into my game as well.
Cheers!

I discovered just how bad this is when I had the buyable rubbish bin (the
street-side one) and buyable maibox in my downloads. I packaged a lot which
I thought was "clean" as I had made it with Maxis content only. I did not
put in the buyable mailbox or rubbish bin. When I tried to install this
house on another account using clean installer imagine my horror when there
were hundreds of files in the Sims2Pack. Numenor's stairs? Every single
mailbox and bin recolour? Lots and lots of other recolour files - when all I
wanted was the damn house the way it was, not the damn recolours that *I did
not even use*!
Hope you get things sorted out, James. Just list your EPs when providing a
link to the upload. Mim and I have all of them so it won't be a problem for
either of us to look at your houses.
Cheers!
