Hi Folks:
How is the new Novaworld server working for everyone?
I'm having trouble getting my copy of DF2 to change over.
A message pops up explaining the change of servers, and has two
clickable texts One says "Download this utility now!", and the
other says "Click here to view the read me file for this utility"
At the bottom of the page it says: "Bad Request (Invalid Verb)".
Nothing happens when I click on either of those two texts.
After a couple of minutes the page is replaced by one that
reads:
Error:
The integrated Browser is not receiving a response from Novaworld.
Please exit this screen and try again.
After playing with the CD for many years, I decided to try the no CD
patch a week ago. Is that part of the problem?

Larry: I have no idea; I can not get dflw to work with the new patch
either. Anyone have any ideas?

Yea, I only did the noCD because a server required the anti-cheat
patch, which required the no-CD patch. I never got into that server, so
maybe I'll just reinstall and see what happens.

That would be best... and if you could try installing the updates one at a
time instead of one big upgrade. NOlogic is terrible about patching their
software. Once you patch it doesn't work!

I clicked on the update button at the game's opening dialog, but I've
never found any factory updates to DF2.
I e-mailed NovaLogic Saturday, but they haven't responed.
The game was release in, what, 2000? They may not support it
anymore.
I posted a question to this group in November, asking for
recommendations of a good online shooter. With a good community and
free access to the server. People seem to like the Call of Duty
series. But I haven't tried it yet. There's something I really like
about the community and game-play of DF2.
I've had a lot of fun with those people, and I'll miss them.

This should be the official upgrade (assuming you have the north American
edition).

I am not familiar with any other editions. The DF2 environment was by far
my favorite, but it just never seemed to grow as well as DF(1). I imagine
it was because (at the time) it needed a hefty PC to run the game.
Oh well, I haven't the time to play nowadays so I just get to stare in
disbelief at my PC...

I'm back. Only to find my name, "Dragon" is on some "Black List" for
being a cheat! It's not me. I've never knowingly cheated. Some rules
are a little arcane, like no hiding in blown up buildings, but when I've
learned rules I've followed them.
I downloaded and applied the patch you suggested, then went to
www.novalogic.com and downloaded something that pinged the site, but I
should have downloaded a different file that would patch the code.
Anyway, now I'm back.
Everybody who posts here seems to have fond memories of DF2. Stop
pining for the old days and come and join us. Right now there are
79 warriors online. Come on in. Me, I have to work tonight, but I'll
try to drop by later.
