I'm sure I read somewhere that since the 2.0.1 patch there's been a
problem with pet bars appearing for Mind Controlled mobs, which has
caused problems with the Razuvious fight in Naxxramas in particular.
Certainly the only time we tried post-patch (only our 2nd ever visit
to Naxx) the priests attempting the MC had this problem.
Is this a general known problem, is it some add-on incompatibility,
or was it specific to our 2 priests?
Can anyone provide some insight?
We have a Naxx raid planned for Monday, so I thought it worth
investigating the alleged problems beforehand. It's bad enough trying
to learn a whole new boss encounter without silly problems like this.
Thanks,

have only done the fight once since patch, as i've been pvp'ing to try
and work on some leveling gear...what i had found was mods or no mods
still didnt make a difference. i went out into elwynn to play with mind
control on less lethal mobs...and i couldnt get a pet bar to save my life.
i noticed also on my hunter and warlock, that the pet bars are there,
but if i zone into an instance or the like sometimes they will
disappear. if i do a /console reloadui they come back.
the best thing i can say, is to prepare in advance for the pet bars not
being there for raz. tell the priests to control them by using ctrl-1,
ctrl-4, and ctrl-5. 1 is auto attack, 5 is shield wall, and 4 is taunt
if i recall correctly.
oh, one other issue we experienced that night as well, which only made
matters worse. not sure if they had changed it with the patch, or maybe
have fixed it since...but we were getting a ton of early mc breaks that
night too. it may or may not have been just a bad series of mc's
though...which do happen from time to time. just something to keep an
eye out for though!
good luck!

I don't know about hunters and priests, but I (as a shaman) have had
problems where when I join a group, the other party member portraits
don't show up.
This occurred with mods, but turning them on and off doesn't seem to
fix it.
I may have to macro /reloadui.
This is definitely a problem for Blizzard. >> Stay informed about: Priest Mind Control (esp. Razuvious) |

I know that our priests had problems on our first visit back to Naxx after
the patch, but unfortunately I can't enlighten you as to what the problem
was, only that we had to reset it 2 or 3 times before they got back into the
groove:)
Come to think of it, we had problems with nearly every fight in AQ40 and
Naxx straight after the patch, but people were putting it down to the mass
re-speccing and everyone trying to learn how to play their class again

I got killed in PVP a few times before I realized my pet bar on both my
warlock and hunter was gone. A /console reloadui does bring it back.
I put it in a macro that was mentioned as well. Annoying but better
than a relog.

Disabling all addons (yes, ALL) will make them appear again. There's
various tricks that may have them appear, but it may just fail again
after a wipe (after the priest dies once).
The problem is caused by an incorrect attribute set in Blizzard UI code
flagging the PetBar secured (ie, not manipulateable by non-blizzard code
while in combat) but not correctly making it visible/appear in combat.
Some ui hook into the code and then it won't work correctly. That may
happen sometime later. The problem just is that you don't have the bar.
(well you "have" it, but it's invisible and unusable)
Disabling all addons will work, but you then really should give your
priest's clear timing readings of their add's shieldwall and such,
because in effect there's 0 information at all without all the raid addons.
I've been doing it a few times since wow2.0 and always do turn off all
addons for the fight. It feels "naked" to play like this, you become
very dependant on information given by others via voice tool.
As for other things, I've not seen more common MC breaks than before.
Sometimes it breaks early, sometimes it holds all the time all through
the fight. Was always so, imho.

So if you don't use voice comms (our guild doesn't) does that make
this fight just hard, or impossible? (given that we've never kill
Razuvious yet, only tried twice).
I did some experimenting with Mind Control last night in Elwynn
Forest. I was able to MC the mobs there and get access to their spells
via the pet bar with no problem. Does that mean I'll be OK for
Razuvious?

I recall you posting that you are using TrinityBars, right? I had trouble
getting the pet bar when MCing with some earlier versions but since 20003.x
it has been reliably working for me....

Hard. You need 2 priests which take turns tanking razuvious with his
adds. Now you have 3 timers on each add. 1 for the taunt, 1 for the
shieldwall and one for their "mind exhaustion" effect which makes them
immune to mind control. Due to the timers, it is absolutely imperative
that the 2 priests can work with each other and help out if a MC breaks
early or an add goes down (he does hit for over 20K damage once shield
wall is out). We use a voice comm tool to tell WHEN the shield wall of
the current tanking add is running out so the next priest knows at which
point he has to taunt and take over tank rotation.
If you do it too early, it won't work through the entire fight due to
the various timers being not ready and the possibility for a wipe increases.
Theoretically it would be possible to do it just with stopwatches, but
there's all kind of things like early MC breaks resetting some timers
too early which probably is very tedious to catch correctly. Basically,
you need someone telling you when's the best time to start tanking
razuvious and also when you need to emergency intervention because of
early MC breaks. (You can with reasonable coordination go through 2
entire phases of shield walls of a single add, if healing can bridge the
time between shieldwall end and cooldown ready, if need be)

We had all manners of workarounds. They all worked for a limited time
and suddenly stopped working mid-combat which resulted in a wipe. It may
be fixed by some addon now but at the moment we just don't take chances
anymore and the two priests with me being one just turn off all addons
and do it "naked". We get the timings told by the other people via TS2
and work with that.
Just did him again last night after clearing the spiderwing btw.
