Hi,
a few years ago i played Quake I multiplayer, It was fun and all, but
for whatever reason I don't have it anymore (different computer
perhaps).
Thing is, for the life of me I can't remember how to set it up.
I know you have to download a patch and edit something.. or am I on the
wrong track :s
Also: where can I find a list of Quake Servers.
Please help
Thanks

Thanks I found _almost_ everything I need:
When I go to join game, then enter the IP of the server, it says
'Connection Accepted'
then what do I do? :s

The server should be setup with a map cycle or at least a starting map. The
client should automatically be started in the game at the choosen map.
Recheck your setup. If your game is public, send me the IP address and I
will try to connect.
Also, what program did you choose to run a quake server with? QuakeWorld or
a source port?

Hi Geroge,
I decided to buy the full version and everything pretty much worked
from there, occasionally I get the "Connection Accepted", but if i just
go 'stats' or 'say hi' it kind of 'wakes the server up' so to speak,
and i join a map instantly.
I'm not running a server

I'd say you are trying to connect to a quakeworld server with a netquake client
or the other way around.
www.quakeone.com is the place for easy quake multiplayer, they've got good
guides and stuff. they are a netquake site though (netquake = original/vanilla
quake, which is damn laggy online). quakeworld is the way to go in my opinion.
you'll find many infos at www.quakeworld.nu (forums!). servers at
www.quakeservers.net. and a VERY good client ("exe") at ezquake.sf.net
good luck! >> Stay informed about: Playing Multiplayer |
