Hello,

I'm offering a game with a customized map. Now one of my players told me,
his ships are "at the wrong place"
I checked the game with Winplan and VPCE, data is ok. Ships are at HW, HW is
where it should be.
He swears, he uses my map, renamed it and put in in the game directory =>
nothing worked. Then he took my map, replaced the standard map in the main
directory and then it worked....so he told me

Then he signed in for another game with standard map...you can imagine what
happend: Wrong position, because he replaced the standard map.
He put in the standard map in the main directory again...customized map
doesn't work...he still swears he uses the customized map in the game
directory.

I have no idea what could be the reason. Anybody out there who does? He
already re-installed winplan.

Thanks & Greets

Matthias

Your game's xyplan.dat should be in his relevant vpworkx folder, also there
is a utility called FixMap, I believe, I have never used or needed it but I
know that is sometimes used.

What I would do is send him another copy of xyplan.dat but rename it to
Matthias.dat, get him to save it in the correct game folder then copy it and
rename copy to xyplan.dat.

Just make sure he is sending map to VPWORKx and not a separate directory,
where he might unpack his RST.

Remember, us old DOS hands and path Wizards are from a different era Wink

I told him to do so, sended him the files I called

map_game_21.dat
map_game_23.dat
standard_xyplan.dat

and explained everything to him like I would do to a newbie to
VGAP...nothing seems to help. That's why I'm so confused.

What I tried now is I unpacked his RSTs at my Winplan and sended him the
files, told him he should rename the original xyplan.dat to sth. else and
try to use only the maps in the vpworkX folders.
We'll see.
