Has anybody played this in here; I'm thinking of buying it as I love sailing
and enjoyed Sid Meyer's Pirates (the new one)?

i played the beta and wasn't too impressed by it. it has an interesting
economic+pvp system (tied together) but it was just kinda bland. the
ocean is this big, ugly static thing - i was hoping for some dynamic
wave action but it's just like zipping around on an ice rink. the ship
battles are actually pretty good, like an advanced version of pirates,
but the sword fighting part is really poor.

i'm a bit of a pirate geek myself, but i wouldn't recommend it unless
you're interested in pvp as that's the game's main selling point. it
has a relatively dynamic warfare system where you can fight over and
capture ports, which gives you access to different resources. but you'd
need to be in a good guild to really take advantage of that.

i dunno, maybe you'd like it. i've played basically every major mmorpg,
including almost 3 years of WoW all up, so i'm difficult to please. when
i was playing the beta (dec/jan) there was a lot of griping in the
forums. i guess you should check them out and see what's going on now.

Thanks. That's answered my question. The static sea thing really puts me
off apart from anything else. I won't bother with this for now.
