Doom 3 was only $29.99 - for quite a while.

The only reason it would remain high is because of price fixing, and that
only occurrs within the first few months of release.

Ok, I understand.You're right about me being new to the group and to
NGs in general. I was just a bit startled (offended actually) at the
language of the replies. I hope that's not the standard for the group.

It's not the 'standard' here or in most of the named games ng's, like
alt.games.quake or alt.games.half-life; it is that for folks that DO
purchase their software it's an outright slap in the face for someone to
drop into a ng intended for the support of the software and users. MOST of
the people in these groups bought their stuff. The ones that have not are
generally not owning that they've pirated it.

There are a lot of different viewpoints about paying for software. MINE is
that if it weren't for the prospect of making some money from it, why would
someone write and publish ANY of it? Cause they just want to? Ha! There
wouldn't be very much to even run on a computer available to the gemeral
public, if that were so I do my rightful part. I buy what I use. All
of it. Shareware included.
There isn't anything special about that either. That is what is supposed
to be, it's expected and rightly so.
