Paladin Prayer and Insight runeword

Ok, I know that I can spend points in Prayer and have Prayer's affect
with my Pally's Insight staff's Meditation aura. I just want to check
and make sure that Prayer works with the Insight's Meditation aura for
hirelings and party members as well as just for my Pally. I know it
would if it was my Pally's own Meditation aura, but Blizzard always has
so many gotchas and inconsistencies I wanted to check.

So is there ANY reason for a Priest Pally to invest his own points in
Meditation (assuming he's lucky to get Insight with a level 17
Meditation aura which is, I'm fairly sure, pretty much all the mana
regen anyone needs)?

For my casters, I get a prayer merc and equip them with an insight stick and
sig helm and armor. That holds them all thru nm. In hell I switch to tal
mask and whatever high def armor I have lying around.

Above lvl 75 or so a prayer merc with insight refills a casters life ball
and mana ball faster than anything else I have found.

I haven't done a Priest (max prayer, and med as I recall) since insight came
on the scene.
