If you live in the United States, it is illegal to run your own private GC
server.

There are no private servers, simple create a password protected game
and invite your friend(s). >> Stay informed about: PSO Gamecube direct connect options |

If you want to do something about it, write to your Congressman and tell
him/her to advocate a repeal of the appropriate sections of the Digital
Millineum Copyright Act.
For the time being, you'll have to pay for a HL if you want to be a good
citizen.

Why not just go to some empty ship where no one ever plays. There's tons
of 'em. >> Stay informed about: PSO Gamecube direct connect options |

You could sell your Gamecube, buy several Dreamcasts and copies of PSO,
get the server software, and set up a server only you know about.
(see for example
http://pages.globetrotter.net/ctrep/
)
Probably more complex than you were thinking of... >> Stay informed about: PSO Gamecube direct connect options |

Hell, i still have my dreamcast version. I would really like to run or find
my own server. I just don't feel that that what i get in return is worth a
monthly fee. Games like planetside, anarchy online, everquest, yes, they
are actually creating new content. PSO? i don't see the point in a sub
fee.

Don't forget the act that the WTO has which is basically the same
thing.

Import the Japanese version. It's cheaper and, apart from HL pages, is
fully in English. I did that. >> Stay informed about: PSO Gamecube direct connect options |
