Post subject: PS3 sells over 12 million -- 5 months faster than xflop 3-shitty

The Playstation 3 recently passed the 12 million confirmed sales mark
and it did it 5 months faster than the xflop 3-shitty. Sony projected
in February they would have shipped 13.1 million by March 31 and have
exceeded that goal. GTA IV is turning out to be a big system seller
for the PS3 and there are several huge system sellers on the way,
beginning with Metal Gear Solid 4 in June. The PS3 passed a
significant milestone several months ago when total PS3 sales reached
50% of total xflop 3-shitty sales, even with a year head start for the
xflop 3-shitty. The PS3 is now approaching 75% of total xflop 3-shitty
sold. Even at this rate, the total number of PS3 sold will be equal to
the xflop 3-shitty by the end of the year. Since several huge system
sellers are coming for the PS3, projections show the total number of
PS3 sold will be equal to the xflop 3-shitty well before that,
possibly in the fall. After that, the PS3 just pulls away from the
xflop 3-shitty like a Ferrari leaving behind a tired old Model-T. |

Actually I believe I read it is closer to 13 million. NPD charts will be out
soon enough to see how things will pan out for both consoles now that GTA IV
has been released. I am interested to see how much of a boost Sony will get
from GTA IV and MGS4. They need to start making up some ground so maybe they

Up until the last quarter, Sony was including shipments to retailers
in their sales figures.
Remove the units sitting on the shelves and you'll get the true sales

Sounds Good doesn't it. However, percentages can be deceiving. Here's
some numbers just for fun:
PS3 = 10,000,000
X-Box = 20,000,000
PS3 percentage = 50% of X-Box
1 year later:
PS3 = 20,000,000
X-Box = 30,000,000
PS3 percentage = 66% of X-Box
Hey, that PS3 is eating into the X-Box lead. 
I'm not saying the PS3 isn't gaining. It probably is, but not as fast
as those percentages in your article appear to be showing.
