So, how exactly does one deal with ghosts in POWDER, anyway? I've
managed to survive liches, cockatrices, demons, and dragons, but so far
I've either fled the level or died when ghosts show up. Warning is
pessimistic about returning to deal with them even now, thinking they
look like my funeral.

Use silver weapons. That's really about it. I learned that lesson the
hard way the last time I developed a silver allergy. I've never tried
to use magic on them; I've mostly stuck to silver swords and spears
since I found out that they could cut ghosts.

That being said, if there are any better ways, I'm all ears.

Silver or fire.

If it is the famed Haunted Isle, you are likely too low level even
with appropriate gear.

The way ghosts kill isn't with direct damage. It's with the
paralysis. Once you are frozen with fear they can gnaw away at you -
or more likely - wait for a more powerful creature to cut you up. I
really think of them as upgraded ghasts. You thus want speed or
jumping and ranged attacks that can damage them.

Well, I was coming back up later to try them. And sometimes you don't
get a choice.

Silver worked to kill two ghosts. Unfortunately, I could not also handle
the two yellow dragons that showed up. (And no, the dragons did not
simply come along while I was paralyzed.)

Yuck man. Fighting mutiple ghosts is hard. Wands of fire and fire
swords work best for me...
