POP : Sands Of Time - Corrupt Saves?

I've got to the point after the collapsing bridge, making my way
across the small beams. I think the level is something like "I'll meet
you at the baths".

After pulling all the switches I find my way along a cavern to a
cracked wall at the end. Theoretically I should be able to bash this
wall down, having upgraded my sword. However, I can't.

No matter how much I strike or bash the wall nothing happens. On this
level there's also another "weak wall" which leads to the bonus water
of life section. I can't bash that one down either.

Is this a problem with me or is the save corrupt? I've already had one
corrupt save (the broken bridge) where I would die instantly after the
collapsing bridge cut scene.

I've just about had it with the bugs in this game, but if this one's
my fault rather than the game's then I'd quite prefer to keep going.

Any suggestions?
