Here is a sample list of this month's upcoming releases from GoGamers
list, mostly PC exclusives ! Something for everybody here, except
maybe hard-core adventure types.

Battlefield 2142 (Oct 17)
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (Oct24)
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Oct 24)
Flight Simulator X (Oct 17)
Guild Wars online: Nightfall (Oct 26)
F.E.A.R: Extraction Point (Oct 25)
Gothic 3 (Oct 20)
NWN 2 (Oct 31)

( Some of these may be UK imports. Gogamers import prices are normally
no higher than the expected US domestic prices )

Also with the intense push in PC gaming support on Vista from
Microsoft, it seems that the death certificates on PC gaming are a
little premature. Certainly the incredible number of PC on-line gamers
stated by Microsoft gives considerable reassurance. Remember that the
PC is still the most UNIVERSAL video-gaming machine on the planet.

Now we just need the laziest company in the computer biz, Intel, to
actually build reasonably quick integrated video circuitry into their
motherboards, so these new games will actually be runnable. Intel is
probably the single greatest impediment to PC gaming currently.

I would put them at #2, behind microsopht. Intel only makes the chips,
ms makes the unstable, resource-piggy, insecure os, and then makes deals
to force people to use it if they want to play the new games.

And we all thought soviet-style oppression was dead!

A definite buy - despite being stung by BF:Vietname, this one looks cool.

More dwarves and beards. No thanks.

Might on budget - enjoyed the first, but had little replay value.

Yeah. Unless they've introduced the deathmatch mode, I'm out.

More beards.

Maybe. Wait for what's said on here.

maybe a few more years of cheapskates like you only buying games out of
the bargain bins and we'll finally get that nail hammered in.

Actually, my most recent purchases have been some new games from
GoGamer (www.gogamer.com, shipping only to the US), taking advantage
of a couple of recent "48-hour madness" offerings, besides some very
interesting imports from the UK at the normal GoGamer price (such as
the complete Splinter Cell Trilogy on DVD for $39, not yet distributed
in the US). If that makes me a cheapskate in your eyes, then you need
to urgently make an appointment with either your eye-doctor or your
shrink. No doubt you went out of your way to ensure that your car,
dinghy, etc, etc. and all their contents were purchased new at the
full manufacturer's recommended retail price, refusing all
discounts....

Demo is pretty cool but short, seems to run better than the original
too.

Is there anything new in the demo that we don't already know from FEAR?

Don't forget Football Manager 2007 (Oct 20), which is going to be
massive in Europe.

New weapons, new enemies, new locations, new chapter to story. What
exactly are you expecting or hoping for?

I will be getting all of these. BATTLEFIELD 2142, DARK MESSIAH, GW:
NIGHTFALL, and NWN 2 this month and the rest later.

No, that's more for puzzles and wouldn't fit to FEAR. But I would like to
see new weapons that are really different besides caliber and firing rate,
new enemies that don't just seem to wear another uniform, and most of all
new levels where each room doesn't look like the one you just left Wink...

That above all else. I've never, in all my years of playing shooters,
ever been so frustrated by the lack of environmental variety in a
game. Every time you did get outside in F.E.A.R it was night time too.
I did actually finish the game in the end and found the second half to
be better than the first. I rate it as a decent game that could have
perhaps been great if it had just been less tedious to traipse
through.
