Kevin/Oscar/anyone who knows,

I looked at the Excel download list, but it is a huge pain in the ass
to navigate. Could someone, if convinient, post the actual VTES event
schedule, including costs?

Thanks,
-Peter

Huh. Good question. It is possible that these are actually 3R+F events
(historically, there has been a 3R+F event on Friday).

Is there something unusual about these? The other tournaments seemed to
allow 2 hours per round, whereas these have 8 hours for three rounds
(including the final).

What is unusual is that I screwed up. haha, little joke there. Smile

Anyway, ya, these two are 3R+F.

So hypothetically, as it is highly unlikely that any of the VTES events
will sell out (can they sell out? Is there a limited number of seats?),
rather than ordering specific tickets (ya know, after the stupid
Origins web site gets something other than a stupid Excel file to
download), could I just order a bunch of generic tickets and use them
for whatever event is convinient?

Or is it preferable for some reason to actually order specific event
tickets?

No, they won't sell out. Not a chance.

If I were in your situation, Peter, I wouldn't worry about it until I got
to Origins and had setup the rest of my schedule, and then I would buy
sufficient generic tickets to cover the cost of my VTES events.

Keep hope alive! We can have a 128 person tournament yet!

Yeah, my current theory is that to avoid having anything to do with the
download schedules and trying to actually pre-reg events (I already
have a badge), I'll just pre-reg with $20.00 worth of generic tickets,
and just sign up for my events with those. Stupid Origins. But hurrah
for Kevin running tournaments!

I'll happily interpret, but I'm not quite sure I understand what needs
interpreting. There are multiple tournaments on Thursday and Friday, a
morning, afternoon, and evening. Saturday has the Qualifier and then
something in the evening.

Generic tickets are basically money that you pay for events--the fee
listed (i.e. $4.50 for an event) is the cost of the event that you
either get by buying a specific ticket for the event (which you hand to
the judge when you get there) or by using generic tickets like cash to
pay the judge the $4.50 when you register for the event. Each generic
ticket is worth/costs $1.50, so to play in the Thursday afternoon VTEs
tournament, you have to give Kevin 3 generic tickets (generic tickets
exist so that people can pay "cash" for events, but so then the
convention can keep track of and get their cut from each event). As it
is unlikely/impossible for a given VTES event to sell out, you don't
really need specific event tickets, just a handfull of generic ones to
pay for the events as you get to them.

[Peter responds with something about money and generic tickets]

Kevin mentioned there'd be a vtes ribbon this year. I didn't see it on
the website when I bought my badge but (assuming Kevin didn't lie to me)
we should be able to just get that and then play in all the vtes events.

Speaking of Origins events, hey Kevin, can we talk you into making these
draft events sanctionable by having 'em be 2R + F? As far as I know, it is
not possible to sanction a tournament above 1 table in size without having a
final round played.

Same comment on Booster Draft 2. Smile

I mean, I love draft on its own, but sanctioned draft is even better.
Unless these were going to be Internal Recursion drafts and therefore
weren't going to be sanctioned anyway?

Josh

just failed to play in a draft the other week on account of eleven players

Hrmm. I guess they are now 2R+F. Smile

I did not mention it, as it is listed on the website, but just like last
year there is a VAMPIRE RIBBON -- Event #10008 -- which is $19.50, and
covers your entry into ALL the constructed events.

NOTE: If anyone has purchased event tickets or generics and wants to get
the ribbon (which i would suggest), then I will get your other tickets
refunded and get you a ribbon during the first event.

My handy advice for folks going to Origins is, really, unless you are
registering for events that have small numbers of players and will sell
out, just get a handfull of generic tickets as it is just easier. But
that is mostly moot, as you have to stand in line anyway (pre reg is
over, right?)

The VTES ribon is a great deal if you are going to play most of the
VTES events--I think it becomes a bargian with, like, 3 of the shorter
events and Saturday (I'm pretty sure the ribon doesn't cover the
draft). It seems likely you'll be able to get it from Kevin, but you'll
probably have to use generic tickets anyway. Or maybe not.
