Not really sure there is such a thing... "optimum" depends largely on
the setting and circumstances. For the NWN/NWN2 campaigns, they are
geared towards combat, so my builds tend to be roughly 2-4 fighter
levels per rogue level (not exactly sure off the top of my head). And
you never (iirc) really "need" a rogue to survive. Handy sometimes,
to find and disable the traps, and for certain optional story lines,
but never really needed to survive.
NWN1 let you save all your skill points when leveling, so I would keep
skill points earned as a fighter and save them to use as a rogue; and
typically i would take a level of rogue when I would be able to hit a
multiple of 5 in the Tumble skill for the +1 AC bonus.
In NWN2, which I've not finished yet, I don't have much more levels of
rogue than necessary to get to Shadowdancer. then I got bored of NWN2
(in the retreat of Aman Jarrow) and wandered away. I should really
finish that sometime... >> Stay informed about: Optimum level split for Rogue / Fighter |

Thanks; I was thinking only 3 lvls of Rogue, and having a dex-based
fighter (She is a thiefling, dex 20).
In the meantime I have started a new "project", a (to be) Human Ranger/
Rogue/Fighter. I was thinking of levels Rogue 3, Ranger 6, Fighter X.
I am only entering the swamp for the first time, I am total lvl 3 at
the moment. (ranger 2, rogue 1). Next level (which should come within
5 minutes of play) is Rogue...

Ahh, seems you are early in the NWN2 game. You won't really need a
lot of rogue skills early on, (might not need any, iirc) and fairly
soon, you will meet up with people who are agreeable to be your hench-
people. This includes a rogue, so you could go through the whole game
without any rogue skills at all.
As a matter of fact, NWN2 is set up so that you can be any class at
all; you will be able to solicit help from NPCs of any of the core
classes (bard, cleric, druid, fighter, ranger, paladin, sorcerer and
wizard) except Barbarian and Monk (and Monk can become an option
later). >> Stay informed about: Optimum level split for Rogue / Fighter |
