Many of you have been so helpful and smart along the way that I am letting
you make the final decision for me on the following configuration from Dell.
Tax is 6% here in Florida. The start price was $1419, which you can find on
Dell's site. The 4GB RAM is a freebie upgrade. I upgraded the basic 320gb
SATA to a 500 gb and added another 500gb SATA to make 1TB-plan to do lots
of audio and video. Comes with 750 W PSU. Mobo can be overclocked. Already
have three 22" Acer WD monitors and a Matrox Triplehead2 Go Digital unit.

If you think this will/will not run FSX Deluxe or any similar games please
let me know. I plan to order it tomorrow if you Ok it.
Thanks again ns

Hi newsimmer,

Do you have the option to upgrade the hard drives to SATA 2?

Is that the fastest RAM available for your motherboard?

Regards,
John Ward

I would think you could run two FSXs on that set-up. I run FSX on three
screens very happily on half that power...

Hi Quilly,

I was assumimg that newsimmer doesn't want to upgrade any more
frequently than most of us, and the cost difference between SATA and SATA 2
hard drives is minimal, as is the cost of fast RAM these days......

Also, FS11 is just down the track, so why not be fore-armed with as much
hardware horsepower as possible, without blowing the budget, particularly if
one doesn't want to upgrade any more often than is absolutely necessary...

John Ward

Thanks everyone. Based on your expert advice I am ordering the XPS 630
today. I will install FSX Deluxe on it and run it with the three monitors. I
may never leave my house again.

The only thing I would say is it would be nice to get the OS with
no bundled software on it. I thought I read somewhere Dell was
offering that?
