I just bought some software for Ultima Online the second age. I was
wondering if it was worth signing up for UO and trying it out?

How much is it and what is the atmosphere like on the board at the
moment. I have to go from dial up to an always on connection so please
tell me know if UO isn't worth it, you'll be saving me some cash.

Cheers
Bill

There are 2 x 800 mb files on that ftp page. I'm not sure if it is
worth it.

What is the monthly sub at the moment and are there any intorductory
offers?

There are 2 x 800Mb files on that page. If I download them amongst
other things I will have to upgrade my hard disk capacity. It probably
isn't worth it (for a trogladite like me)

How much it it to join UO a month a the moment anyway?

*nods; winces* That's what I meant about the game mechanics. Or, to put it
another way: the change in game mechanics physically diminished UO, and the
change in plot intellectually diminished UO. Both diminished it, but in
different ways, and with different results (though both very bad).

Well... good luck.

*can dream of a better future...*

Somehow I feel like adding a (very tiny) harddrive won't cost you much at
all.
I'm guessing that after a few months you'll have paid more in UO costs than
you'll put on that harddrive.

I have 5 glorious GB of space on my system (a 4Gb and a 1Gb) and I've
pushed my system to its limits to occasion but I've never found I needed
anymore than 5 (even when I was burning Jazz cd albums on a regular
basis for a friend). I have a spare 6Gb HD I could easily add to the
system, that I bought for a fiver (5 pounds sterling). I think I was
being more lazy than miserly in the above. I have other machines with
up to 40Gb but the one I have everything on is just the 5Gb one. The
40Gb machine is 39Gb empty (I just use it for seti@home until I finally
sell it)

So UO is about 8 pounds sterling a month? I might just try it out
anyway once I get an always on connection. But it will involve an
upgrade of several things so I will have to plan that in advance.

Probably start with that old HD and a move from Win98 to XP ...

I've done that work now ... and I wish I'd been lazy. 10Gb and XP but
it took 14 hours to get sorted.
