Anyone else going to give this a go?

Servers have just gone up today for the preorders before proper release
on Friday.

Is it similar to Guil Wars?

I can't really say, I've only played Guild Wars for about 2 hours when
there was some free beta one weekend.

Guild Wars has no monthly fee, which was my main reason for buying it in
the first place. Glad I did, as it's great! Play it every day.
Expansion pack is out for it next month, whch I have pre-ordered...Smile

If GW had a monthly fee, I might have been tempted to go for WoW, seeing
as there's a lot of people who rave about it.

Yup.
I'm currently getting my 2nd lvl 20 char thorugh the game...Smile

Yes, I'm not really much of a PvP player either. Haven't been involved in
any GvG for PvP for quite a while. I'm more of the 'helping other people'
kind of player, which I enjoy immensely.
Speaking of which, if you're needing help with missions etc I'd be willing
to help. Just look out for Carmen Getterix (Ranger/Monk) or Xena The Red
(Warrior/Monk)...Smile

Well, I have quite enough to be playing atm, so wll pass on WoW for the
time being...Smile

Yes, anywhere. The simplest way to contact me is to put either of my
characters in your friends list (press N and input the name) and the name
will be highlighted in the 'Friends' list when I'm online.
The only thing is if you are in pre-searing I can't help you as I have no
chars in that area atm. Once you leave pre-searing, you can't go back
unless you start with a new char. The friends thing works anywhere though.

OK. I will do the same when I find out your char name...Smile

Yes, you are. I'd do those quests and then go on Sir-Wots-his-face's
quest. You really aren't missing much in pre-searing, and there's not much
point staying any longer. I think I was level 6 when I left.

He will be on the Battle Isles, which you can only access when you get to
post-searing. You can create a PvP char and get to them that way. You can
access them with your normal char, but I don't know if you can do that
straight away, or if you have to get to a certain point first.

I've been playing and it's an incredible game.
I played WoW for a month before quiting from sheer boredom. EQ held my
interest for a couple of years because of it's incredible character
development, but the lack of content always bothered me.

DDO got my interest within 15 minutes and it's been pure addiction
since. It has the character development of EQ, graphics better than
World of Warcraft, and quests that I haven't seen any online game
compare to.

Anyways, I haven't had this much fun since I first started playing
paper/pencil D&D in the 80s.

Just be warned, if you dislike grouping... It seems the makers want you
to group, but I've been able to solo so far. It seems like most
people are finding soloing to be feasible. I am expecting though that
the top gear is probably only attainable through grouping.
