Archived from groups: alt>games>the-sims-2 (more info?)

I finally bought TS2 a few weeks ago (Even though I do not think I
have exhausted TS1 with all it's expansions). I had been putting it
off, and continuing to play TS1, but I finally could not resist any
longer...

The graphics are superior to TS1, but the movement controls seem to be
less precise than I would like (I all too frequently wind up at a
vantage point I never intended to be at)...

Inventory: I have noticed is that there are not many objects provided
by Maxis/EA when compared to TS1 without expansions. I am not sure if
this is because of the 3D nature of the objects or? ... Another
thing I noticed is that wall coverings and floorings are just not as
varied colour and/or texture wise. (I notice this a great deal, as I
am a "builder" instead of a "storyteller".)

Also, WHY are our Sims still sitting on the commode fully dressed? You
would think that Maxis would have fixed this by now.. It looks
ridiculous.

The Sims themselves do have a great deal more expression than they did
with TS1, however, I have noticed that you can create some really
grotesque characters using the create-a-sim feature.

I am going to hold out and not just buy every expansion that becomes
available.. I think I learned that from TS1. (i.e. "Unleashed" had
some interesting objects in it, but those bleeping stray animals
coming around 24/7....)

I don't find it particularly boring. And, as one review pointed out, it
does give you 24 extra days (More if you flunk out first time around at
each semester) to build points & friends.

You get used to that pretty quickly.

Can't say I noticed much but then I'm a storyteller. I have, however,
NEVER, not once, wanted to go back to Sims 1 once I got started. You'll
like the building tools better once you get the hang of them.

It might look ridiculous but it would cause more hassle to get the sims to
take off their bottom halves in more ways than one. I can think of two
reasons off-hand very quickly. First the meshing problems it would cause
and then the moral outrage in some quarters in America.

Yeah - great isn't it?

Oh I loved Unleashed best of all the Sims1 EPs. I liked it in so many ways.
I guess the different games offer different things to different people.

Best wishes
