Stupidly, I was only using the quicksave key and now I am stuck in the game
as a Vampire and tresspassing in the wtiches house and need to go get the
sould gems for her but as soon as I step outside her door it is daylight and
I die. The only other save I have in game is an autosave and that crashes
every god damn time it tries to load. I do have a backup save but that is
taking me way back to an early game start. And Bethesda think this is
patched fully and works as advertised now? Bullshit. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

Sunlight does not instantly kill vampires. There are several nearby
caves that you can make a run for and should be able to get to before
you die. I was in a similar situation and that's what I did.
You can also just let the game run a few minutes until it is night.
Time passes so quickly that it won't take long.
And do use more save spots. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

Can't you just hide somewhere and wait for night? I know it will take a bit
of time but it's better than nothing. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

While waiting he can read up on how to use more than one save spot so he
doesn't blame his failings on the game needing a patch.

Heh. I learned my lesson long ago while playing some other RPG. I
was just using quicksaves and did so just as something happened I
couldn't survive. I retried that about a bazillion times before
giving up and starting over (and using rotating save slots). >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

Yeah, I guess we've all been bitten by the quicksave "bug" at one time or
another. I can't remember the game, but I do remember quicksaving right
as I got killed once. Reload and my character would scream and die. Kind
of funny, if it didn't mean redoing some of the game.

Travel at night after 8PM. Fast travel is available to vampires. Use caves,
houses. forts, ruins, for cover during daylight. Rest when possible to eat
up daylight hours. Start to get info on Oblivion at Wikipedia. The more you
know. the better the game. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

An old friend of mine used a quicksave in Doom 2 - just as he was
slipping off a ledge into a lava pit.
He learned his lesson - and so did I.

Never used to be a problem 'back in the old days' of rpgs...you know, when
ppl were literate & had the brain capacity & attention span that allowed
them to do a manual save once an hour. These days devs are having to code in
multiple autosaves just so they don't hear this kind of stoopid whining on
their forums. Of course, then you have games like The Witcher which does it
far too often & screws the game in the opposite direction due the load
times. And just because some snot-nosed X/Y/ME-Gen can't be bothered to hit
Escape & Save every so often. I'm sure it won't be long before automatic AI
autosaves become the norm, or else a game will lose points on reviews. Oh
Brave New Word!

If you don't mind cheating, there's a 'console' cheat command you can
enter to give yourself the cure potion for vampirism. I don't recall
the exact steps but google should be able to find it for you. I ran
into a similar situation when Oblivian first came out.

Two Worlds. You can die, but the impact is so tiny that it's
negligible, like an MMOG. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

Is there any impact at all - other than being transported to the
nearest shrine, I mean?
Of course if you play on Hard, the game becomes a perma-death style
RPG. I haven't had the guts to try it.

Everyone has to do this at least once. My favorite was when I
fell off a huge cliff in Tomb Raider, and in my rush to push the
quick-load key I hit quick-save by accident. Lots of run replaying
the death scream. Designers should never put those keys
next to each other. >> Stay informed about: Where's the next Oblivion patches. |

OR you religiously make saves as an old timer like me does and then
get burned because the god-damned saves are so freeking big with the
new games they take up all your HD space and the damn game won't save
and crashes out and you can't load it again until you figure out what
the hell is going on, because they are saving some abnormal place.
Such as happened to me with NWN II.
