I've just got a nice new 8800GTS card for Xmas and want to make
Oblivion look as good as it gets.

Which mods/packs are the best ones with high res textures etc, to show
off my new card?

LOL I just came over to this group from c.s.i.p.g.a because I was looking
for some mods to pretty up Oblivion, and here I find you! I bet there's a
bunch of guys that got new cards for Christmas that can't wait to replay
this game! I'm just wondering what kind of performance hit do these mods do
to the game? JLC

Blimey! check out Quarl's Texture pack - nearly 2GB , but looks
amazing. I still have some other packs to add /update, but this runs
at 50-60fps (vsync on) at 1280x1024 and 4xx AA (enable via Nvidia
driver)!

No really, I'm flattered, but please, don't let Zag's head get any bigger
than it already is Wink.

You're asking the wrong person cos I thought 'what a great idea - a
bunch of mates having a few beers could have a great time with a Wii'
but having done that this Xmas at a friends house I've got to say it
gets boring fast and we quickly fired up a couple of PC's and played
COD4, UT and CS:S on a lan.

Didn't find Wii sports much of a workout either - in most sports you'll
run or at least walk a long way. With the Wii you just wave one arm
about. Hasn't done much for the Queen has it? Still no console plans
here (though I am getting jealous of everyone else around me meeting up
regularly on Xbox live for Rainbow 6 sessions).

Dude, I have 30 games installed on my system right now, mostly unfinished
(some barely started). Gems like Stalker, Witcher, GW:NF, Diablo (Median
2008 mod), Tabula Rasa, HGL, CoD4, Dreamfall, AO, FEAR, HL2:Ep1, IWD, NWN2,
SW:EaW, TQ(+IT), 2W, UFO:AL, VTMB & X3. Tell me, what more can a Wii do for

....and

There's still a little life in both of you yet. I reckon Zag will
eventually talk you into buying a Wii, especially now that C-Wiz allows
you to play 'backups'

Aint no-one helped me make up my mind about HL though. Only £18 here in
the UK now so maybe I'll take the plunge... just one more run through of
Stalker first..

Isn't it always? What a strange question... Wink

The bunch of 'gamers' however is a bunch of friends, family and their
partners. Obviously the Wii is just not our kind of 'thing'.

The switching was due to the (mainly male) elements

a) wanting to see what COD4 looked like;
b) playing UT cos its a favourite and then
c) switching to CS cos some of the ladies argued UT was 'too quick'

There were certainly no high scores or any possibilities of a clan
forming from this group Wink

....and to be fair, though we had a great time extracting the urine from
each other the PC games only lasted slightly longer than the Wii. We
were soon back around a table cracking a couple of bottles and putting
the World to rights Wink
