Oblivion: Fighters/DarkBros conflict?

I started a second game in order to follow some of the major quest lines
that I didn't get around to in my first game.

The Fighters' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood are two of these. Can the
same character advance in both? As I understand it, you have to keep your
Infamy down to remain in the Fighters' Guild.

You can do both fairly easily if you don't get caught. Oddly enough,
the Thieves Guild quests give more infamy than the Dark Brotherhood. I
guess they're not as secretive. Anyway, if you can do the DB quests
without being spotted by bystanders, then your Fighters Guild
membership should be OK.
