You could, then, try a manual install - the instructions are on the EA Games
site (not the Sims Exchange site) under technical support. If you can't
find the url, there's a direct link from the Exchange site via the icon on
the bottom of every page. I'd also check out uninstalling and cleaning the
registry (info is in the same place) - sometimes that can cause problems
though you don't usually get that error.
