Post subject: Noob question re: episode 1
Archived from groups: alt>games>half-life (more info?)

Okay, this question will come off as ignorant,
I'm sorry, I have never used Steam before and
today I bought Half-Life 2 episode 1 retail,
(at Target on sale) and I find I have a CD that
is blank, and an activation key.

I am assuming that I register the key through
Steam and have the game content downloaded, and
that there was no need or intention to put
anything on the CD itself. Either that or the
product is defective and I will have to return
it.

I did a search on this subject, and asked this
question on some forums only to receive a lot of
ridicule.

To anyone else who purchased the game retail,
is there actually supposed to be any content
on the installation CD? Please educate this
ignorant person.

My CD has the game on it. I think that you got a bad disk. I would return it
if I were you and not just hope that the game will download when you
register the bad CD.

Not sure if this is the problem, but the wording you're using may show
the problem. if you have one disk, then it'll be a DVD. You /do/ have a
DVD drive, right? Just a possibility...

Episode download question - I'm currently downloading Ep1 and at the speed it's moving, it should be ready by next week. It might have been quicker to walk the six miles into town and bought a disk. It's going on a hard disk separate from the one I keep XP on. However, I'm ..

So is episode 1 actually episode 2 ? - Am I right that HalfLife2:episode 1 is a sequel to HalfLife2? I was wondering why it's being called episode 1, why not episode 2 or maybe even HalfLife3:episode1. What in the name of Greek buggery is going on here???
