I bought one for my sons age 10 and 12. We need some games for it, but evey
one they see they say, 'Oh YEAH That's a good one!!' Well I had that
experience with a PS2 before and now have several games that turned out to
be 'rubbish' and they only play these on there now>> Jack and Dexter 1, 2,3.
Spiro, Sims, Simpsons Hit & run, and Grand Turismo.(Sims is for my 14 yr old
daughter.

So, please could anyone with children recommend which are the best games to
buy going on their favourites for the PS2?

Thanks very much! Smile

Zelda Wind Waker (<--highly recommend this one), Ocarina of Time and
Majora's Mask, (the former are on a collector's additional available on
eBay), Pikmin 1 & 2, Harvest Moon Magical Melody (check out the reviews and
screenshots/videos, this may be more of a girls' game), the first Ty the
Tasmanian Tiger is fun stay far, far away from 2 & 3 though. Mario Sunshine
and Luigi's Mansion...hmmm...Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Golf, Animal
Crossing. I'm a mom who plays these games and would recommend them. I have
the Wii system and am playing Zelda Twilight Princess, it will be released
for GameCube the first week of December and I would recommend it although it
is rated Teen so check out the reviews and screen shots. Ocarina of Time and
Majora's Mask were rated E but by today's standard they may be Teen as well.
All the other games I mentioned though are great E rated games.

Thanks Day for replying :- A few people from another group have recomended
Mario and Zelda too so that's good. I'll buy the a selection of what you
have told me about Smile Thanks fro the stay well away from warning too, just
what was required Smile

I'll pop back in after Christmas and let you know what they thought of them
Smile I'd have a go myself, but I rarely last a minute before I'm killed off,
or crashed etc Smile

Are Zelda Twilight Princess and Majora's mask rated teen because of the
difficulty, the tex reading required or for the usual violence aspect?

Hi Vj, I'm glad to help. Zelda TP, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time all
are quite dark in mood and you do run around with a sword and other weapons
killing monsters so it's violent. I'm less than half way through Twilight
Princess but as far as I can tell it received a T rating because there is
some blood on some monsters and structures like gates and it can be tricky
is some areas as Zelda games are heavily reliant on puzzle solving, young
players may get frustrated easily. Also, one of the minor characters in
Twilight Princess comes to the hero as a ghost telling him how she was
beheaded so it's quite dark in theme. Majora's Mask is dark as well, you
are trying to save the world from the moon which is about to fall and
obliterate everything. Also, the moon itself is this scary freaky being,
see here for a screenshot:

Wind Waker is just plain fun, you do kill monsters with your sword and other
weapons but it has a light atmosphere and is cartoonish. The puzzles are
rather easy and you sail around in a boat. Here are the screenshots for
the game:

So, I would definitely pick up Wind Waker and if they really like it they
may be interested in the other Zelda games. Wind Waker is so far my
favourite Zelda game of all of them and I've played most of them. For the
GameCube, it's the most kid friendly as well. You never know, you may enjoy
it as well. Smile

A friend of mine is going to be selling her sons games to make way for new
ones soon. If Wind Waker isn't there I'll look out for it second hand,
there's a good Games Swap shop close to us. As for the other three, I'm
sure they'd love the gore Smile But they'll have to ask other people for
those! I'm not sure the youngest would be able to sleep at night!

We'll see, maybe I can ban him from the room and let eldest play...

Thanks again for the input it was really helpful.

I'll let you know after Christmas if I manage to get anywhere having a go
myself

V -doubt it though ho ho ho- j Smile
