Archived from groups: alt>games>warcraft (more info?)

Finally managed to save up 5000g. Signed on yesterday and saw I had
about 4920g. Went out to Ogrila, did the dailies there, along with
that days cooking daily. Then to Skettis where I did the bombing run
but was having terrible luck with the escort. Thats when I saw
someone looking for 1 DPS for reg Mech for that days daily. Figure
mech is a short run and would give me the last of the gold I needed to
reach 5000. Easy run, no wipes, not even 1 death. Turned in the
quest and ended up with 5009g.

Flew out to Shadowmoon and bought my 300 training, then headed out to
do my first Netherwing dailies.

The quest to kill the transporters and take the relics from them
wasn't all that fun. Following the quest text, I landed on one of the
floating islands and picked off the transports as they flew past.
After a while I noticed no new ones were flying past, so I took off
and as I flew towards the dock, I saw a shaman there picking them off
just below the dock. After a while I found a place I could pick them
off as they came from the other direction. Spent probably 10 or 20
minutes on that quest alone.

Next I worked ongathering Dust, since I am an herbalist. Took about
5-10 minutes to pick the 40 dust I needed. Got lots of motes of mana,
and picked a few other herbs I found while flying around. Only
downside is watching for those elites that wander around.

Then I looked at the quest to poison the peons. I had to leave
Netherwing Ledge to go kill mobs on the mainland. I decided to kill
the dimetredons just west of BT Took about 10 minutes to gather the
glands I needed, then back to Netherwing ledge to poison peons. If
not for the travel, this would be the easiest of the dailies I did.

The last one however was just plain miserable. 40 Netherwing
Crystals. Drop rate from the rays seemed pretty good, but I kept
getting stomped by elites. So I decided to go into the mines and farm
there. Took forever as the drop rate seemed much lower. In all I
probably spent 30-45 minutes for that one quest alone.

So after all that I head back to turn in those quests. Turned in the
first 3, but when I got to the last one, the one that took the
longest, I got hit with a bit of a shock. I forgot you could only do
10 dailies per day, and that was my 11th.

So, I'm just saving those and planning to turn them in today. I also
have 35 netherwing dust, so I can quickly gather that up for a quick
2nd turn in. And after doing all that yesterday, I went and completed
the daily BG, so thats a 3rd I can turn in today. Can't wait for 2.4
where we can do more than 10 per day.

The early Netherwing quests are incredibly tedious... Do yourself a
favour and check out the video on wow-tips.blogspot.com which shows
the spawn points of the eggs, get your rep up quick and better quests
open up...

I never even tried this one. Seemed boring from beginning.

Good side of the gathering quests is that you can have virtually a
free turn in the next day sometimes because you have lot more than you
need. My miner/skinner is that way, especially getting the skins from
other peoples kills... One of the few times skinning is worth
something.

You can do that in a group, so if you see someone else, grab their
help. I did it until the better quests appeared and never again.

I turn that in once every three days when I have enough...

You will struggle a lot with this limit until then (how many is it
going up to?)... From the netherwing quests alone, a lot more open up,
most easier than the beginning except perhaps the one which gets you
to go to nagrand...

zone being added.

I read about those quests, but you don't get them until friendly.

5160? Training is 5000 and the mount is 200, unless you are talking
about a skyguard mount with a possible discount, I know the horde/
alliance faction mounts don't get discounts.

Have you seen the CE Hippogryph mount yet? I haven't seen it in game,
seems no one is interested in plunking another 2000g down for a
mount. I was looking at CE rep on Wowwiki and they had a picture of
that mount on the website, looks pretty cool. If you want something
really unique, I'd say go for this, as very few people seem to be
interested enough to get it.

Just incase you didn't know about this:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Netherwing_Dragonflight

The one downside of starting the neutral+ quest line is the Dragonmaw
illusion makes it hard to help out friends/guildies with killing in
the DM-Fortress as it makes all but a select few targets friendly to
you and, as such, non-attackable.

Been doing those on my UD priest lately, never really got into them on
alliance as I only had one character able to do them, plus I love the
gryphons anyway, but it's nice to see something new!

That's one I only did once and now skip since I got more quests opened up
at friendly - it's kinda tedious hanging round waiting for one to come in
reach only for it to not drop the item anyway :-/

Those elites are a pain, I'm now in the habit of removingall amour with
durability before doing my mining there!

I found it a pain, poor droprate on the glands and a peon camp will always
bug out and not die so I have to run back for another gland. Again, one I
dropped as soon as I got to friendly, although it would've been fun without
the bugs.

That one is annoying, yeah. When you get to friendly, one opens up which
has to kill a bunch of flayers, and I find I usually get 15-20 crystals
while doing that... so my logic is to do the crystals handin every second
day and not waste ages grinding for them Smile

Hehe yeah, I can't do Ogrila yet (nobody ever does the prequests it seems),
and I skip all the more boring dailies, yet every day I end up at 7-8 out
of 10, even on days when I don't find groups for the instance ones.

There are two more quests in the mines, so you can collect crystals
while doing the others.

I really hate that quest. As soon as better ones unlocked I stopped
doing it unless it was early in the morning and nobody else was around.
because of the patrol routes, it's really only feasible for one group to do
at a time - otherwise as you say you're choking off everyone else's supply.
Now that I'm exalted I will never, ever, do that quest again. Even if you
ARE doing it - it's essentially single kills with the occasional second if
you happen to know where to stand and catch them at just the right moment.
Slow and boring.

The dust and ore are mostly intended as stuff you get while doing the other
quests. My warlock had neither skill, so I simply banked the drops that
came while doing other quests, so if I ever decide to raise the gold to do
it again I'll have a couple free turnins.

You picked the right place. With a little practice and the right classes,
you can wipe out every last dimetradon in under 5 minutes, and get 6-8 fel
glands. Look for round pools of green lava on the map - several places have
dimetradons around them. I didn't do this one every day - I would pick up
the quest, and then the next morning on the way to the ledge I would get
the glands.

Again, not really intended to be done every day. 2 days in the mines will
get you your 40 for a bonus turnin on those days. Eventually you unlock
quests in the mines themselves (there's one or two single time quests, and
two dailies that are ridiculously lucrative), so you'll be spending lots of
time down there.

>2nd turn in. And after doing all that yesterday, I went and completed
>the daily BG, so thats a 3rd I can turn in today. Can't wait for 2.4

Another key thing - learn where the eggs spawn (there are several utube
videos) both on the ledge and the mainland, and visit them at the beginning
and end of your questing. Each egg is 250 rep - they knock huge amounts of
time off your rep grind if you pick them up. On a good morning, I would get
4 or 5 of them.

Note I keep saying "morning". A lot of these quests are devilishly
difficult to complete in a PvP realm during prime time, and dead easy early
in the day where few people pick fights. *

Netherdrakes are great - I would have said best mount in the game until I
flew a engineering copter for the first time yesterday. And the quests you
get later are worth a ton of gold. I picked up 1600+ gold getting to
exalted, which considerably softens the pain of dropping 5160g on training
and a starter epic mount. *

Yep, exactly what I'm talking about. You save 40g buying a ray as your
first epic mount, if you intend to eventually get the drake.

I think you can attack them if you turn on the "On war" check on
reputation tab. I'm not sure if you can simply turn it off and I don't
know if you low your rep while killing them, so do it at your risk.. Razz

Doesn't work Sad
It's not a rep thing, it's the effect of the "buff" you get when your
in their areas.
However if your a skinner and need netherdrake stuff, you can At War
with any netherdrake and kill. You do not loose rep.
