In order to quiet the riots of people doing PvP (the 20 or so of them),
a nerf is up for all storm controllers or defenders. Hurricane now
will tick like 1/4th of the time it does now, meaning if you used the
power to keep melee attacks away, that won't work anymore (I normally
used it when enemies were melee oriented like freakshows). It takes
1/4th the endurance it used to as it eats endurance each tick, so less

I'm not sure I understood what you wrote.
I think it's this:
Hurricane will tic at 1/4 the speed it used to, which would, say, enable a
stalker to slip in and do his backstab attack before the repulsion or
accuracy debuff effects take hold.
Endurance cost per tic is unchanged therefore the end cost drops to 1/4 of
what it was before.
Do I have it right? It's kinda important as my second highest character is
a storm defender. Combined with the changes to acc debuffs, it's a big
deal. Is thia PvP thing or a change to the power in both PvP and PvE?

They did, and there is another nerf coming for stalkers, I don't play
one so didn't pay much attention to it, it's something like now Placate
only hides you with 75% power so some people can still see you after
you assassinate someone, this change only really important for PvP as
mobs (except snipers) still won't be able to see you at that 75%
stealth.

The thing is, the game has been out for 2 years already, hurricane has
worked as it does for 2 years, nobody complained, it wasn't an
overpowered power in any way. Sure I can 'hold' an enemy if there is a
corner where I can stick it, but then again, a lvl 1 controller has a
hold that doesn't need a corner to work, and uses a lot less endurance.
So everybody was happy.
Then they add PvP, they say no powers would be changed because of PvP
(almost exact words from a dev), yet here we are, suddenly the power I
used to keep myself alive is now useless BECAUSE OF PVP. I never PvP,
95% of City of Heroes players don't PvP, but we are indeed getting our
powers nerfed and changed all over the place because of PvP.
Let PvPers have their own powers I don't care what they do, just don't

Can I hazard a guess that you're not one of the 20?
If 19 of us get together, think we could get them to change things so that
Stalkers can only hide 1/4 of the time and the rest they are just a little
transparent?
If your reason for the change is true, it's a bit bad - PvPers should learn

aren't Brutes or Stalkers, because they can PvP too, Blasters are very
successful at PvP, so why is the change purely for melee fighters??

As would I and almost everyone I meet in CoH.
What I don't understand is why they put PvP into the game in the first
place. No PvP is the reason I started playing this game and it is the
reason I will not play any other MMO. I hate it for the most part. It is
for the have's and power-gamers not the have-nots and the casual-gamers.
When the arena failed to draw the masses I cannot believe that they thought
PvP was the answer to getting more people to play the game. ::sigh::
Now I have done a bit of PvP in CoX and granted it is not half bad if you
remember a few things:
1) you will die all the time...
2) people will call you names and laugh after they gank you...
3) there is no debt so who cares...
4) you can always leave the zone and not worry about it...
AND I still don't see why they nerfed hurricane any way... it's not like it
was over-powered in PvP. I can think of several ways around it AND if you
select an attack and charge into someone using Hurricane you can get that
attack off before you get pushed out 99% of the time. Sometimes you could
even get off 2 attacks which is more than enough for the melee types to kill
a poor defender and/or detoggle them.
Nope, somehow I think it was more than just a PvP nerf. I think they
finally realized what a great power it was and that it needed a little nerf
to slow people down. Why do i think this? Because it seems they are
looking into nerfing ALL of the "repel" type powers if this nerf to

One, I don't believe the devs ever promised that no powers would be changed
because of PvP. That they'd *try* to prevent it, I could buy that. But a
promise? Skeptical.
Nevertheless... Castle just posted the following:
"I checked in a few Hurricane changes today that QA is going to look at. In
Theory, these changes should mean that for PvE, Hurricane acts Exactly as it
did before the previous change, while in PvP, it should act exactly as it
does currently. Hopefully this change will get a green light from QA -- I've
spent quite a bit of time on it over the last few days."
So that's a hope, at least.
