Post subject: Navarro question
Archived from groups: alt>games>fallout (more info?)

I just found my FO2 disk in the back of a closet and installed in on
my new (to me, actually fairly old) desktop. I've got a question
about equipment in Navarro, but I'll include some spoiler space, just
in case

I can't remember--is there a gauss rifle somewhere in the Navarro
base?

side notes:

if I try to solo with a character, about how high do my science and
repair skills need to be to work most computers and repair things like
the generators in the military base?

Playing FO2 is getting my fallout jones going again--I never played
FOT. I'm assuming I can find it pretty cheap now--is it worth the
time?

Thanks,
Chuck

I can't remember... but if there isn't any in Navarro, just visit San Fran -
it's just a little more to the South - the stores there carry all kinds of
top-level equipment Smile

Which military base? Are you talking about the one you have to deactivate
force fields, retrieve a (damaged/chimpanzee/cybernetic) brain and make a
robot?

For that one, IIRC you need repair of at least 80, and science must be
around 120 for best results.

- FOT is *not* RPG. It's as its name stated - a tactics game. Kinda like
traditional Japanese RPGs.
- It has a real-time/turn-based system. IMHO the real-time mode is suitable
for MP only... in SP, you can't control your whole squad (IIRC 6 people?)
efficiently, and the AI might do stupid things with your uncontrolled party
member if you're not in charge. The turn-based mode is acceptable, IMHO.
- Story is bad. Just Google search and see what people have said. Many
refused to recognize FOT as part of the Fallout series.
- You can recruit party members with a wide range of choices. Some can
repair, heal, steal, and drive a car - You got vehicles in FOT.
- Vehicles - you can find a wide range of vehicles in FOT. There's tank,
jeep and even an APC (Armored Personnel Carrier)! You can have the whole
squad stay inside the APC, fire their guns and throw grenades while crushing
super mutants under the wheels!
- Graphics is good - compared to FO1 and FO2.

I bought FOT as part of my Fallout collection. I haven't finished it yet.

It's good to see the group comes to life again!

AFAIR no.

I tried it some time ago but completed only a few missions... IMHO it is
rather boring.
