Yes Indeed ! What ever the rights n wrongs involved its all ways
puzzled that me 'They' don't use more of the secondary later in the game
type of checks.
Of the very many games I have or have had the only 3 I could not get NO CD
(and I really tried) were TOMB RAIDER 1st one ..Star Wars Jedi Jnight 2 :
Outcast,
and Jedi Academy ...the last 2 can be got NO CD in the single but not the
Multiplayer..
they crash ...Tomb Raider 1st was / is just plain strange & complicated ..
eventually some did a messy NO CD ..
Those Star Wars games did it by not only checking at start up for the Disk
but then again for extra graphic data a bit later ...no one has ever cracked
that
system...
Even the very tough Starforce in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory only
(seemingly )
does its many checks at start-up. Once some Cracker had worked out (months
after release) what and where is checked on the DVD a working crack was
made.
There are very many ways a disk check system might work ..along with
complex Update Patch system (like NWN2) ...its odd 'They' don't use them.
