I have some free time on my hands and am tossing around some module
ideas to write.

I never ended up getting NWN2, and my skillset with NWN Toolset is
pretty good. Do you think I should go ahead and get NWN2 and climb the
learning curve, or do you think enough people are still playing NWN to
make it worthwhile to write new content for it?

Opinions sought. Smile

I think a lot of people are still palying NWN 1 because of the amount of
material. That will probably change as more people get used to the NWN2
toolset.

I would love to see the PRC pack as a NWN2 mod Smile

Why not get NWN2 but write your mod for NWN 1 because you are familiar
with it - then convert it once you knnow what it is supposed to llok
like to teach yourself the new toolset.

Just my 2c worth

FWIW, I got NWN2 (OC and MotB).
Finished the OC, never replayed it. Replayability is pretty low, IMO.

I'm somewhere in MotB, got bored and haven't finished it yet.
Although I will finish eventually, I don't see any replayabilty there,
either. There are a few mods for NWN2 out there, and what I've
noticed is that the downloads are huge for a small amount of playing
time.

It also seems that there is little traffic here about NWN2, it just
hasn't seemed to generate the same kind of excitement that NWN1 did
(might be in part that NWN2 requires beefier hardware, in addition to
the cost of the game)

So, right now, I am playing 100% NWN 1 because, like Kharsis said,
there is sooo much material for it.

Agreed, write it for NWN 1, even though I would love to see more NWN2
mods for the visuals. NWN1 has a larger player base, IMO. Be sure to
announce your module here when you get it done, or if you need
playtesters Smile

Not to discourage anyone... I'm waiting for good NWN2 mods as much as
anyone... but I was out at Savant's website seeing if there was
anything new on his Aielund Saga and found this tidbit:

" Definetly not modding NWN 2. I've commented on it before, but
BlackDiamond tried it recently and was appalled by how bad it is. So
it's not just me! "

I tried to build with nwn 2 but couldn't figure out how to make area
transition or even door area transitions.

imo, the multiplaying system used by nwn2 is worste than the one with nwn1
with the needing for the player to download contents in order to be able to
connect to a server you
make the operation unnecessarily complicate

for instance i tried connecting to a server it require me to download a
program, ok.
i run this program he tell me that he will download update, ok
at the end i see it download more than 1.5gb of stuff.

How can you make available an online server with update and change on daily
base when you must ask to the players to keep updating and downloading new
contents every day ?

If that's the way it's working, it is the absolute kiss of death for
NWN2 online play.

I've got about a half dozen regulars on my new NWN1 world - maybe about
a half dozen more and things will start to get really fun.

Drop by. I've changed the Server category to Alternative from PW
Action. I'm not sure since I'm not familiar with the online scene all
that much, but I think I've done something unusual in allowing you to
fight players who are not online.

many for nwn1.
