Are there any posts discussing whether or not priests/priestesses can pray
over fountains to bless the water (give it a chance of 1 in 50 depending on
wi and piety)? The resultant chance to #dip ! in the fountain could result
in blessed holy water automatically with a slim chance of success and
greater chance of summoning a nymph or water demon.

Or any posts about if Monks pray while in a trap (beartrap, pit etc) they
learn to untrap or escape within one turn in the future? How much fun would
it be to #pray foo for a one time only chance to levitate say on the quest
level. Pull something out from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

instead of a normal #pray, we would instead be required to enter our god's
name #pray foo...I have not yet played enough games to have memorized the
pantheon for all the races and alignments.

Also wouldnt it be neat if monks could pray to the whole Nethack pantheon
for a slim chance to change alignment (they would have to be chaotic to
begin with hallucinating while standing on a co-aligned altar near a
priest).

Knights too could use #pray foo as well. Say for an early chance in the game
to learn to ride. YASD

By naming the God in the #pray command we show our commitment above and
beyond simply #pray.

Rewards could be simply intrinsics or a chance to increase dex wi or ch with
negative effects if the call to pray fails. I know monks already gain
intrinsics very fast and very early on. Monks would only exercise #untrap
and dex with "#pray foo"

And I know just a simple #pray can often reward with gifts like spellbooks
and weapons.

But #pray foo could be restricted to a few pious classes and alignments and
be an away-from-altar-effect - because if we choose to play pious classes we
should remember the name of our own god/gods.

Have there be a 8 out of 10 chance you get a "you dare call on me mortal'
thunders foo" with usual punishments. Could use a narrow range within the
prayer counter say 800-805 moves since you last safely prayed.

anyway, new to the boards, enjoying them. ive downloaded nearly 87000
messages from rgrn, now when to read them.
