Hurrying to the elevator
Actually, I forgot about him. But I see he is still on your mind though
I haven't seen or heard anything about him for ages. He seems to have
disappeared. He used to be on TV programs now and then and used to write
me a note when he was going to be on a TV show so I could tell people
and they might watch. I think that was when I was with my last ISP, but
haven't see him in any TV shows unless maybe some I don't watch.

Thats what I thought it might be - too many CD's and yes changing them
with all those CD's, would even bother me. Six is my maximum though I
can only think of GK2 being 6 CD's. Jenny, do you know if End of Ages is
on DVD Rom?

The "Collector's Edition of Myst V is on DVD.
The regular North American version is on 3 CD's (I think it's 3).
The regular UK version is on one DVD.
The DVD versions are hybrid Win/Mac. The CD version is PC only. >> Stay informed about: Myst IV (Revelation) question |

Thats not where I finally got into the elevator. I was already at the
lever to get into the elevator. Its at the right side of the elevator. I
didn't see the handle before. It was too dark, so had to adjust the
gamma, then its too light. Oh well, I will fiddle with the lighting
more. Its pretty dark in there in some spots and not others.
> From there turn slowly to the right....opposite from where the light

Where the wrecked machine is, you turn left to find the handle which
opens the door to get in the elevator not right. The handle is at the
right side of the stairs and you can see the elevator at the bottom of
the stairs. Before, I saw only the orange square thing below the handle,
but didn't see the handle.
I really don't like that hand cursor. Its hard to wait to see if you
need to grab something or leave it. Wastes a lot of time. It would have
been better with a pointer or small hand where the hand curled up when
you could grab something to make it obvious there is something to pick
up.The cursor in a game is very important.

There's nothing like a walkthrough when you're mired in the great black
stuckness. I didn't think the puzzles in Myst IV were as well clued as
in the previous Myst games. I haven't played Myst V. The most recent game
I've played is Scratches.
I'm not sure if Mary is seeing my posts or not. >> Stay informed about: Myst IV (Revelation) question |

I think you'd like it overall.
No action sequences.
No evil copy "protection."
I liked how you could get a close up of the pictures on the wall.
Jonathan Boakes, who made the Dark Fall games, voiced the guy you talk to
on the telephone.
I got the game for $20 and thought it was certainly worth that.
But it wasn't perfect. There are a couple of fussy hotspots. Even with a
walkthrough I had trouble finding them. One of them lacked feedback to
the extent that I had to look in my inventory to see that I was
successful.
I didn't care for the "soft edge panning" movement system. I spent most of
the game looking downward because you have to pan down to click the
doorknobs to open the doors in the house (and they always close behind you
so you have to reopen them every single time you walk through). Looking
back up from the doorknob again by trying to find the sweet spot to nudge
the point of view upward got too tedious (as well as giving me nausea), so
I ended up looking down whenever I was moving around the house. There is
an option for snapshot style instead of allowing you to pan at nodes. But
there was no option for central cursor type panning (the type the Atlantis
games used). I tried the snapshot style, but it seemed a bit too much like
having blinders on (despite the fact that I didn't mind snapshot style in
games like RHEM 2, Alida, or Harvest).
There were some things - I wasn't sure if they were red
herrings or whether they related to the plot. I'd have liked a bit more
exposition at the end. I think they left the end a little open so you
could decide for yourself whether what took place was related to the
supernatural or not.
Overall worth a try though, despite my complaints. The plot was
interesting enough that there is quite a long thread about it at
Gameboomers. >> Stay informed about: Myst IV (Revelation) question |

I've played the demo of Myst relevation......solved that puzzle (fireplace)
When I can't go anywhere like in the demo I solved those puzzles but when I

Exactly. You can spend all day looking for clues and never see them. And
it's harder to find things when you have to pan all over the place to
make sure you see everything.

I haven't played Myst V: End of Ages yet.
I played Myst IV: Revelation and liked some things about it but not
others. I didn't like the waving hand cursor, for example. I wanted it to
settle down and behave itself. I liked Myst III: Exile better than
Myst IV: Revelation. I liked the puzzles better. Have you tried
downloading the demo for Myst V: End of Ages? It's a big demo, but maybe
you could leave it downloading overnight or something. It might give you
an idea about whether you'd like the game or not. >> Stay informed about: Myst IV (Revelation) question |

Well I'm glad to see you can still get newsgroups. You used to have Rogers

I play when it is evening and dark then I see much more......at daylight you
miss a lot.....!
I'm of.....swimming with Yeesha ......she is so lovely.
Started a new game yesterday....using a walkthough to see what I missed in
the first part of the game and I missed a lot!
Now I 'll understand Murray's frustration with the crystals.....so I don't
have to repeat that
I am enjoying the game a lot....! How about you?
See you where Yeesha used to swim.
