Virtual Skipper 3 uses StarForce (according to GCW)
Virtual Skipper 1 and 2 do not.

Best I can figure out from Googling, RDPNP is something to do with
Microsoft Network Clients (whatever those are). Wouldn't VGA be something
to do with your graphic card drivers? - maybe the basic ones that kick in
when you uninstall your video card drivers.

Very mysterious. I wonder if SafeDisc has changed the name of their
driver.

So you have the DVD rom version same as me. Is your version in English
or Dutch? do you have a choice of languages in the menu in the game?
Since I installed the patch, I only have choice of English which is what
I want.

What was reported here? the slight blurrinesss I am talking about? Its
only noticeable when the camera pans around, but when the camera stops,
the picture is perfectly clear again. Didn't happen in Myst Exile
though. It had no blurriness of any kind.

I have been playing it on a P4.TakeThisOut@2.5GHz with 1GB RAM and

It plays ok on mine too. I have it at 800X600. don't want it any higher
than that. In fact, i usually play games at 640X480 so I can see the
text clearly as 800X600, usually the text is too small and I don't want
to fiddle with fonts. I like big printing.

Someone lent me Schizm 2 and after playing it for a short time, it was
much too difficult for me and much too boring. I was glad I didn't buy
it. I never played Schizm 1 either and have no desire to.

Not sure what you mean you were not aware of. Did you mean you didn't
know there was 2 patches?

prompt.

Did you want to play the game in French and can only get English as a
choice? Thats all I got after I installed the patch, even though the
patch names other languages you are supposed to be able to choose, but I
thought maybe my game was picked up by the patch as being English and
that was the text installed automatically.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. What I meant was that I wasn't aware
that the patch doesn't allow you to install the language of your choice.
I tried to install French subtitles as an experiment and the installation
failed.
When I installed the patch I was asked by the install wizard to select the
language I wanted. It turned out that the choice was any language as long as
it was English Smile
I think that you are correct: the patching process detects some feature of
your existing installation.

Mary, I'm sorry to say but I didn't play Myst Revelation at all, so I can't
help you out here I'm afraid. I was just reading this thread with interest
thinking maybe I can learn something out of it. There's a lot of knowledge
in this group I think. A long time ago I did play the first Myst (with the
special Myst-solutionbook in my left hand I have to say) but I remember I
didn't like it that much.
We (my wife and I) just finished NiBiRu (nice game, we liked it both) and
now we're having a go at Return to Mysterious Island. It seems a bit
Myst-like, as far as I can see. Maybe I'll like it better than the 'real
one'.
Ciao, E-Cie

French is not even listed. No other language but English is in the menu
for choice language.

Yes, that seems to be the case. Well, as long as we get English, we are
OK. There is not a lot of interaction in the game, but there are cut
scenes where characters speak, and I like to have text in case I miss
something. Are you playing Myst Revelation at the present time? just so
I know where to get hints if the walkthrough isn't enough. Smile I might
even be stuck near the start of the game, but maybe just need to check
more closely.

I hated the first Myst and don't know how or why I finished it, as it
was very hard and very boring. The graphics were beautiful, but it is
probably the most boring game I've ever played. Riven was better, and
Myst Exile was better still. I can't say about Revelation yet, but I
can't imagine it wil be as good as Exile. I was pleasantly surprised I
liked it so much compared to the first two games. It was completely
different from them. I wonder what End of Ages is like? Some games such
as the Myst series, are over my head, but with a walkthrough I can
usually manage. If I like a game, I usually replay it at a later time
and can understand it better. (some games I've had to play two or three
times to figure them out, and some I never do Smile

I liked Nibiru myself, but not as well as Black Mirror, the first game
by same game designer.
I played Return to Mysterious Island and it was just OK. I didn't think
it was very Myst like, but everybody sees things differently.
I was in Staples store today and saw Myst Revelation box. I never looked
closely before, but checked and noticed they were all DVD Rom versions.
I would think they must come in CD rom version as well, but none at the
store I was in. End of Ages was there too, but is CD rom.

I'm not sure if I'd be much help. I still have the game installed but see
that I finished playing it in November 2004. I doubt my memory is good
enough to remember the details.
Good luck, enjoy the game.

In games Nov. 2004 is a long time. I remember some things about games
after I play them , mainly if it was a very difficult part and took me a
long time to get past. But other puzzles or tasks, I often can't
remember.

I've installed the game today......and the patch because I read Murray's
review Smile and I am not good at being fast in a time sequence.
No Dutch subtitles no English either.
For the moment I am wandering around and looking at the
animals.....beautifull environment.....and Yeesha is telling me all kind of
things Smile..........the game looks very complicated but I do the best I
can......maybe we could meet in Atrus's workroom to plan how to power things
up?
Smile

I was thinking that its been a very long time since we played the same
game at the same time - "Lost Tales of Atlantic" - Remember the boar
problem and advice from you and I believe it was Jenny too? Don't see
Jenny much here these days. Lost Tales was another game I don't know how
I had the patience or interest to finish that game with its annoying
save game setup, and having to do the same thing over and over because
you always timed out. Remember the timed sequence going up those stairs
at the inn or whatever it was? Maybe I had more patience with timed
sequences in those days.

I'm still around. Mostly just reading the newsgroups without posting.
I remember the boar and the inn. The boar was worse, but the inn was bad
too.
