| Besides to using your own mp3 files for radio stations and build/buy/CAS
screens etc, is it also possible to use them for people playing music
instruments? and how in this case? thanks a lot Smeraldina

I don't see how it could. Sim music for instruments is broken down into the
composit parts -- bass, guitar, drums, piano and now violin -- and each
instrument plays it's own music. But when played together, the sims who are
"joining" will stand and bob their heads in time to the music until there is
an appropiate opening for them to jump in and then they are all playing the
same song in perfect harmony. I really don't know how in the world you
would accomplish that with your own music.

I would imagine that there's some sort of timing attached to each music
file, so in theory, if one could figure out how this was stored, it could be
duplicated for some custom content.
Of course, you would then need separate audio tracks for each instrument.
Long story short--it would definitely not be a matter of dropping some file
into a folder. >> Stay informed about: Music question |

Oh man, that would be difficult. I use Audacity to record and it is
track capable. Trying to match tracks is a real job...back in the days
of reel to reel it was easier to do because tracks could be seperated..I
don't think you can seperate voice tracks from instrumentation or
instrument from instriment on modern CD's... >> Stay informed about: Music question |

yeah, I know that...I was just hoping there could be some way of "band
playing" that could be used only when all the instruments are playing
together in a band. >> Stay informed about: Music question |

On the other hand, I wish I could program my own piano and violin music
in for solos...ort guitar for that matter...would be really great if I
could load up some Parkening classical guitar for instance... >> Stay informed about: Music question |

Typically everything is still recorded as separate tracks in the studio, but
once it's on a consumer CD, there's no way you can cleanly separate the
channels. >> Stay informed about: Music question |

What exactly are you doing? I still have my old Dokorder 4 channel multitrack
machine with simul-sync, but the drive belt turned to goo... Now I use Cool Edit
Pro... much easier!

I have a composer friend and I sing his newly written stuff...he sends
me the music file and I play it and record only my voice on Audacity
then send my recording back and he dubs it into his orchestration...is a
ponderous way to do it but hey...we live miles and miles apart and I
can't go there...
