A quick question: is there an official writeup of the Celtic goddess
Morrigan for D&D? Preferably 3E, but any will do.

You know, the Morrignu are actually three goddesses Smile
I'll be interested to know if there are any 3.x write-ups, too.

There may have been something on either the single or the
trio in _Legends & Lore_, pre 3e, in the Celtic pantheon.

Do you want to play a Cleric of Morrígan or
use her or her Clerics as NPCs?

I made a Morrígan for my campaign.
She's a greater deity and Neutral evil.

Portfolio:
Battle, war, coercion, evil, harm, curses,
magic, night, nightmares, afterlife, incorporeal undead,
air, winter, nightelves, evil fey.

If you want to use only official domains,
you could use Air, War, Evil, Magic.
(IMC she grants the domains
Air, Battle, Curse, Evil, Magic, Winter.)

Favoured weapon: Greatsword

The other two of the Morrígan-triad mentioned by
Eric are Badh Catha and Nemain IMC, both are daughters
of Morrígan IMC.

I've read that the three Morrigna were either Morrigan with Badb
and Nemain (which I chose IMC) or Morrigan with Badb and
Macha (who is a lesser deity IMC).
According to some sources Morrigan is the negative
aspect of Dana, but I wouldn't like Dana and Morrigan to
be the same goddess.

She's listed in Legends & Lore - which is available as a free download
from WotC: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads

It's a 1st edition book, but it's better than nothing...

Either/both? Well, not really herself as an NPC, I mostly like distant
gods as, but clerics as both PCs and NPCs.

I thought he was thinking about Badb, Nemain and Macha.

Very cool observation! No, not the same, but it would be interesting
to have them in opposition in a game, with a cleric of Dana among
the PCs (or as an NPC in need of PC help)...you get the idea Smile

IMC Dana (NN) and Morrigan (NE) are sisters. Dana is the leader
of the pantheon, while her son, Dagda Mor, is the actual king.
Regality is part of Dana's portfolio, she grants and takes it.
She had to take it away from her lover Nuadu, Dagda's father,
when he lost his hand...

The enemies of the Tuatha de Dannan are the Fomoraigh,
a race/pantheon of elder gods with a tendency towards evil
and chaos.
So in my campaign Dana and Morrigan would fight against the
Fomoraigh together, but could be in (more or less friendly)
opposition in times of peace.

Sounds a bit like "On a Pale Horse" by Piers Anthony.

Pretty OT, but the Morrigan appear in Christopher Moore's novel _A Dirty
Job_. (Great book, about a guy in modern San Francisco who becomes Death.
Kind of.)
