I have found two ways of doing this and I am willing to share this
secret with you.
1. Pick something like a rogue or shaman and work them to 60. Get epic
gear by way of either AH or instances. If this is too complicated for
you, continue to step 2.
2. God Mode GM Cheat process -- Access your WoW icon on desktop. Select
your character and wait for game to load. Once loaded press and hold
ALT and tap Tab once. Once game is tabbed, access WoW Icon once again.
When character selection screen opens up, select character and delete.
Not to worry, he wont be missed. Once toon is deleted, close out WoW
session. Now access the previous tabbed WoW game and press and hold ALT
and tap F4 8 times. This will reload the game with full GM gear and HP
based off of class selection during character creation.

I really wouldn't try it. Skip God Mode. Like's been said, roll a
Shaman.

Alt-F4 is the Windows command to close a window - it'll just close WoW.
In other words, there is no God Mode and the OP should feel silly for
asking.
This is not an FPS and you won't always be playing against computer
generated enemies. You are playing against other people in a virtual
world where there's even a basic economy. The world is persistant in
that it exists after you log off as everyone else is still connected to
it.
As for the Shaman comment, you can take that one with a pinch of salt
