And these can be used in other places, as well. My favorite use is in
large shops where I want to use my pets to rob the place empty:
First you follow your pet into the shop, and pick up everything it steps
on (except for unknown scrolls, that might turn to dust, if you cannot
afford those). Carry these to a few spots near the entrance of the shop,
and drop them there. If you did your work well, the only items left in
the shop are either cursed or mimics.
Now, use your cursed darts to limit the movement space of your pet:
-------------
| *) ] |
####- *) [ = |
| *) |
|***) ? [ |
-------------
The ) are cursed darts, the "items" on the right are cursed items or
mimics (whatever items your pet won't step on), the * are piles of
non-cursed stuff (left where the shopkeeper won't go, so your pet can
reach them).
Now you just put yourself one space outside the shop, and let your pet
apport the goodies. When it drops them on the free space or in the
doorway, just move forward and pick them up. Because of the pet's
limited movement space, chances are much bigger that it will drop them
on a free space, and likewise, chances are reduced that it will move
them away from the door...
