Question about Mining/nether residue

No trick .. just every other miner is out there as well.. good news is you
can get more then 1 from a node at least

I wish that they'd put residue in the new area of the game too, that would
help some I think. Wonder if they will include some of these offerings in
the upcoming expansion area........thanks for your comments.

No. It's just you can go several veins with no residue. I think my
record is six or seven residue-less veins.

Other times, you can get two or three residues per rich vein.

This is one of those dailies that I'd like to finish each day, but
these days it's difficult to find a vein, then you can go several
veins without getting a residue. After I've flown the entire radius of
Nagrand and found one vein of anything, I'm pretty sure I won't be
finishing this quest for that particular day.

It's just as bad for herbies, I often spend over an hour flying the outlands
(on an epic mount) looking for a single herb to pick.
Then, if I am luckly enough to find a herb, more often than not it does not
have the residue.
My current flight path is to pick up the new dailies in Shatt.
Fly to Nagrand for the flames quest
Then north through Zang to Blades Edge for the power cell quest
East to Netherstorm for the battle plans.
South to Hellfire
then south east to Terokkar for the Bomb run.
If I am luckly, I will have 6 or 7 of the residue by the time I Terokkar.

Nether residues only drop from outlands-specific resource nodes. For
mining, this means Fel Iron, Adamantite, Khorium and Nethercite.

If your mining skill is only 70, you aren't able to mine these nodes.

Oh no, my 70's mining is maxed.....and I've mined several mines with no
residue. So just wondered if there was a trick or something. My youngest
son is having the same issues with his priest/mining. Skinning is a piece
of cake, I get it in 10 minutes time in Nagrand on my main char. Thanks for
your input though. I haven't been to shadowmoon to try nethercite yet.

My oldest is a herbie and he says the same thing. It's taking him a couple
of days to get all his too but my youngest, he has mining and he's getting
it in about an hour in blades edge...........I think by the time I get home
from work the areas are mined out awhile is all. I'll keep trying though,

profession to get it.

The best advice: Don't think of it as a daily quest that you should go out
and try to complete in a single session of play. Just keep it in your log
and turn it in whenever you happen to get 8 Nether Residue, no matter how
long that takes, and then pick it up again the next day.

It's very variable indeed, my priest usually takes anything from 40-70 ores
mined to get it completed, yet my warlock tried just now, got it done in 22
ores. Seems to me there's slightly higher chance off rich adamantite veins,
but then there's more ores from each of those veins so naturally more
chances at getting them.

He might mean herbalism, but you can get it from mining there too, just
there's so many people there that finding the veins might be difficult.
It's definitely available from mining though, I just completed it there.

It's pretty sporadic with herbs, too. Some days I have very little problem;
others I have several full stacks of different herbs before I've found the
requisite 8. Ime, I don't find as many in Zangarmarsh. I get so many
unidentified plant parts and motes that there seems to be no room for the
residue!
