When I started the game I set up my night elf as a skinner and a miner.
He's 225 at skinning an 150 at mining. My question is how can I maximize
what I earn. What's best:
(1) continue mining and skinning and selling mineral/hides
(2) drop mining and take up leatherworking and earn from leather products
(3) drop skinning and take up blacksmithing and make money doing that?
What's most profitable? >> Stay informed about: Mining or Skinning |

Without a doubt keep both if profits is your goal. Also get an alt to
level 5, pick enchanting. You can buy armor from the AH for less than
its value in enchanting components. Ex. I bought two items for 75
silver each. Disenchanted them, put up auctions for 2g and 4g. Profit
= 4.5 gold. Learn what level armors disenchant into what dusts. Then
bid up to the cost of 1 dust. You always get at least one dust, about
1/2 the time you get better. >> Stay informed about: Mining or Skinning |

Funny mine is not any even 16 level and she breaks even nearly every time.

This would present a bit of a probelm as you can only track one type of
ressource at a time. Otherwise not a bad idea.

Alc isn't exactly a moneymaker. My alc only makes money on arcanite
transmute, and that ain't enough to make her rich. Maybe some of the really
high end recipes can make you a lot of money, but getting those is not
exactly something you count on.

So herbalism is more profitable than skinning but not more than mining? My
impression is that skinning is more profitable than mining just because
there's so much more hide to get than minerals to mine. >> Stay informed about: Mining or Skinning |

But it's precisely that rarity that makes mining profitable... >> Stay informed about: Mining or Skinning |

My miner was making more money mining iron at level 30 than my 300
skinner was skinning at level 60.

Then you haven't run into any recipes that use fluxes and whatnot.

True, I hadn't considered that, all my black dragonscales I've sent to
my guild bank for the hunters to make BDS armour with.
Cheers!

My warrior has mining & herbalism, and it's a pain having to switch
'radar' mode all the time. The only reason I don't switch herbalism
back to skinning is that skinning means having to kill mobs, which is
(comapred to herbalism) time consuming if you have no other reason to
kill them.
If you're still levelling (and therefore killing lots of mobs) stick
with mining & skinning. Both are great money makers.

Well depending on how high a level they are you could be Ex and other
goodies that you can sale. For the allience there are a lot of go get me
the stuff from skinable animals cooking quests. In fact my level 16 Druid
is having problems continuing to improve her skinning skill because it is
