BBB4 has a semi-fixed-tech thing going on there, meaning the countries started
with tech 40, and have been going up by 3% every update since (BBB4 has the
'econfig' setting as "level_age_rate -20"). Several posts ago, it was
acknowledged that the problem with micro-updates was the issue if your tech/edu
supply lines got cut while away for just a "few micro-updates", then you could
never recover. I may have discovered a potential band-aid / solution to that
scenario / problem. In BBB4, all countries are gaining tech every-update
because the [so-called!] deity found a loop-hole in the code. By setting the
decay rate to a negative ETU value, now the tech (and research, not used) decays
posititively. Thus, by not making players have to contstantly monitor their edu
and tech productions, they can focus on other game-play aspects. But this
further is useful in micro-update games, thereby making the micro-tweaking of
these functions un-tweakable and un-supply-line-cuttable. Everyone makes the
same tech, every update. Players focus on battle (and other productions). So
do you save cash for next update to build the next war-toy, or use it now?
(versus in a fixed-tech-game, you can build the same thing today with the same
stats as 2 weeks from now).
