Thought I'd post a quick report.

So, we got to Bristol at around 11am, and realised we had no idea
where in Bristol the Toys R Us was. And there's a lot of stuff in
Bristol, being as it is a city.

So we wandered around vaguely, looking for signs for Cribbs Causeway,
since I vaguely remembered someone mention it. We found a woman to
ask, who revealed that we were so far away she might as well only
direct us halfway, so that we could ask someone else.

We did so, got some instructions, and found a double-decker bus headed
for Cribbs Causeway! We stalked it all the way. Turns out Cribbs
Causeway isn't even IN Bristol!

Anyway, it's a huge shopping complex, it turns out. Couldn't find it
in the main shopping centre bit (they called themselves a "mall", but
I've never heard any Brit use the word out loud), but we eventually
found a map that led to it.

The queue came all the way out of the door. I'd brought my GBA SP
with me, fully-charged, but not wanting to waste the battery, we'd
also brought our DSes for DP fun.

We headed for the Underground, and messed around wih everyone else in
the queue. Dozens of people running around, nabbing flags from Secret
Bases. Turns out that if someone has a flag, and you press A next to
them, you can steal it! I only did this once or twice, though. I'm
so evil.

Tried the Union Room, but found it disappointing. The chat feature
was tricky, and communicating with other players was almost
impossible.

Ahead of us were some older kids (I say "older" - older than the
average, not older than us; they were probably around 17 or 1Cool,
talking tactics and stuff. Behind us were a group of younger kids (12
or 13), talking about the game itself. Great stuff.

We got our Mews - pretty dull stuff, really, they just downloaded it.
No new island to explore, even on Emerald. Anyway, it was one-per-
cart, not one-per-customer, so Elanor and I ended up getting two each.

We checked out PBR briefly - saw a Mewtwo take down a poor Monferno,
and a Blissey killed by a Metagross. Saw an Earthquaking Electivire
(first I'd seen of him! He looks amazing) beating an Infernape too.
Couldn't stay long, though, as hours in a queue holding a DS had taken
its toll on our arms and stomachs, so off we went to Pizza Hut.

Which leaves my Sapphire PokéDex on 385! Only Celebi left to go. I
can't say I'm holding out much hope for a UK Celebi event, but we'll
see.

Sounds like great fun. I am so green with envy. Being in Canada
sucks because there are very few events. Last one had nothing to do
with Pokemon, and the guys from Nintendo that were there hated pokemon
>_< .

And the one before that was when Dima was still playing. I chewed him
out for not saying anything 'cause I would have taken him (or his
games) to the event if I had known about it. Then I realized that I
came across like an internet stalker. LOL Shortly after that he said
he sold his system and games, but he still posted here, so I don't
know. It would have been quite the drive to get him and go to the
event, but I would like to go to one one day.

I think the next closest event was in Chicago (at least it's on the
Great Lakes, different country though) etc.

I should keep up with these things, since one never really knows what
will be planned, but there is only so many hours in a day. I think I
wll go and check out the site.

That really sucks. The UK's not great for events (I believe the US got
Celebi with the tenth anniversary event - we got nothing that was anywhere
near that rare). Still, I'm only missing one Pokémon in Sapphire now, and
that's Celebi.

I always have to travel a fair distance to get to the events. Three hours
for Deoxys, which wasn't so bad, since a bunch of old schoolmates were
living in the area, so I stayed with them. Bein back from Uni makes things
easier, though - only two hours to get to Mew, which I stretched over two
days (to Elanor's first, and then onwards to Bristol).

But then, Britain's tiny; Canada could eat us alive. So I imagine three
hours is pitifully short to you.

Yeah, I try to keep up to date, but they always surprise me when they turn
up. I'd never been to an event before the Lati*s event during RS, but
decided to go for it since I really wanted to complete a Pokédex properly
for once.

And I still haven't. Much like RBY, I'm one away. I bet the next games
will be released before Pearl's complete too. Grumble ...
