BZZT! Nice try though K - come back in 10 years when all that's left on the
market are 2 minute noodle console games for drooling idiots. Just don't
blame ME! :-p

Serious amounts of brain power? You're having a laugh aren't you? What
game have you played that requires a *serious* amount of brain power? I play
both console games and PC games, am I more stupid when playing a Console
game? Preferring PC games isn't a mark of intelligence, it just means that
we have different tastes. Yes I generally prefer games with more complex
game mechanics myself but that makes me no more intelligent than someone who
prefers less complex games. Hell my old Networking lecturer liked beat 'em
ups and he had a bloody PhD.

Not sure about the US but in the UK teachers simply differentiat the level
of work depending on the student/class. >> Stay informed about: Mass Effect Coming to the PC |

That's what happened with the original Xbox, at least for RPGs, and
it happening with the Xbox 360 as well. I didn't get an XBox for that
reason, so I probably won't be getting an Xbox 360 either.

I'm only suprised the PC version is comming out so soon. It took almost
two years for the PC version of BioWare's last RPG, Jade Empire, to
come out. I didn't think they'd be developing the PC version of Mass
Effect in paralell with the Xbox 360 version.

*Sigh* more to buy and try on the PC now. Loved them on the PS2...
Actually the main reason I bought a PS2, I would have been console-
less if not for GTA3.

A) Doesn't that apply to all games?
B) Have you actually tried any of these? There's more RPG to these
than half the so-called RPGs out, and far more than any of the so-
called Console RPGs. Fairly open and explorable cities, tons of 'side
quests', quite memorable characters, and some really crazy stuff you
can do. I'm sure there's things I've done in the game no one else has
done, just because I thought it would be cool. They make Oblivion and
Morrowind look like desolate deserts by comparison.
C) You don't actually have to do anything terribly bad. There's quite
a game there you could play with just a couple of the 'side quests'
being a vigilante, a paramedic, and/or crazy taxi driver. Or you could
just ride around on your bike and eat fried chicken until you turn
into a giant tub of lard. Actually I love the vigilante mode, that's
my favorite part of the game. Vice City was awesome in that mode. I
borrowed a military helicopter and spent several days just hunting
down criminals.
Oh wait, I forgot you are our resident PC only snob, you wouldn't play
any of these since they are console ports. Oh wait, you played
Oblivion.

Heh, the *only* temptation I've ever had for a console title was Summoner 2,
which will never come out on PC. Then I read the reviews :-/

Well, you're probably in luck... A buddy of mine didn't believe the "PC
version is better" theory, then I proved it on my system. We went out
and did some shopping, and had some pretty nice results.
Just for example, you can get GTA:San Andreas for $10 at Wal-Mart right
now, just the jewel case version of course... But we also picked up
Vice City and GTA3 both at Target for $10 as well...
Not bad, he got all 3 titles for what I originally paid for GTA3... heh

I find vehicle control is easier on the PlayStation 2 with it's
controller, while shooting stuff is much easier on the PC with keyboard
and mouse.

I picked up the PS2 version of Grand Theft Auto 3 for $9 at Wal-Mart a
couple years ago, and the PC version of GTA: San Andreas (original "Hot
Coffee" version with manual) for the same amount. Rockstar and it's
parent company Take-Two Interactive apparently had cash flow problems
and has been forced to sell these games cheap.

I'm just now playing GTA3 for the first time, and it is crazy fun! This
kind of fun should be illegal. I'm not sure I'd call it RPG overall,
but you are so right about TES in comparison.
There is 1 hidden package left in Staunton Island that is really bugging
me. I'm trying not to cheat to find it, but ... <argh!>
