As some of you are probably aware, Manbird (one of the best
aeronautical video makers I have ever seen), has been making some
strange UFO creations which, in my opinion, were not all that great.
However, I have just viewed a beautiful flight video which he created,
using CGI in a sim movie that I have never seen before. Here is a
link to this movie and if you watch it, click the 'high quality'
thingie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr51PBwlj0o
If you like it, leave a comment for him and hopefully, he will
continue to make videos of this quality. Enjoy.

Amazing stuff, Arthur! His technique is flawless and very inovative.
What do you think his background is? I'm curious

I know his UFO videos are great technically and visually. They aren't
my 'cup of tea' though. I am not fond of science fiction although I
used to be. Maybe I just grew out of it and I was disappointed when
MB swung away from sim videos and did the UFO thing. His videos of
civilian and military aircraft were so much fun because not only are
they technically great, but I can relate to them. I especially like
the Blue Angels memorial (missing man formation) video...it always
moves me somewhat.
I was sorry when he stopped posting in this group because I felt he
lost interest in us. However, I do subscriibe to his videos on You
Tube and that's how I discovered his latest effort. I also subscribe
to other top video-makers on You Tube and never miss a good one
(Mike).
Insofar as his techniques, I have absolutely no idea how he does
it....the passengers, the backgrounds, etc. That's what makes his
work special and that's the way I like it : )
We are all great in what we can do. We all have our talents. Mike,
CL, and MM are great video makers....Vernon and Capt. Varmit are great
commercial sim pilots, and I do whatever it is I do. Thank goodness
we are all here contributing because that's what life is all about.

Hi SE
I agree with you...manbird produces the most fascinating videos. He must
work somewhere in the film/video/media areas. He is unigue. What a gift he
has. I can't say enough.

A truly awesome piece. Somehow doesn't capture flight simulation enough
to be called a flight sim vid though. Technically brilliant, technique
and direction superb, but so real it's no longer flight sim. He even
said he used real sky imaged, and superimposed the sim a/c onto them.
Beautiful soundtrack too. He never fails to impress.

That Manbird is a damm nuisance. I was just going to bed when I spotted
your post Arthur. I thought I'd just have a quick look at Manbirds video
before I retire, and I've been watching his video's for hours now.
Now, I know you said earlier on you didn't care for his UFO creations,
but just take a look at this,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EOb6DyhbMM&feature=user
I was going to watch just a couple of minutes of it, its nearly 10
minutes long, but I couldn't take my eyes off it. It is just
incredible. I had to watch it all the way to the end. I didn't
understand half of it, but man, what a video!
As soon as I get up tomorrow I'm going to watch a few more.

I too just clicked that link, and planned on watching just a little.
Before I knew it, I'd watched the whole damned thing!
I wonder how he gets the things like the news report, and the voice
overs etc. Seems to me like he's in the movie making buisness, as we
suspected right from the start.

He say he's mid-thirties, has a PPL that he doesn't use and that he's never
had any photography, professional graphics or video experience at all.

From somewhere in the back of my mind, didn't he say in one of his last
posts that he had been commissioned to make a commercial video of some
sort?

I'm not sure a specific plot is intended. I think MB gets a piece of
music in his head, and tries to interpret it with a video which might
express his visions....and he uses FS9 to accomplish this. It's
somewhat like poetry where a portion of the interpretation is left to
the reader, or in this case, the viewer.
I do think you've got the gist of it though, Iain.....good for
you : )
Capt. Varmit.....well, we'll have to wait until he's out of

Well actually, you are right on that point Iain. I think we video
gearheads paid more attention to the technical aspects and forgot
about the message and it is confusing in that regard.
