I use Windows XP so I can't answer your first question, but I can give
my opinion on your last one. I absolutely loved Riven and after
playing it I thought Exile was kind of a let-down. I didn't like some
of the Exile puzzles and the whole thing seemed kind of tedious.
Revelation is a lot more like Riven and I'm loving it so far. I think
it's all the cut scenes that make it more interesting, or maybe it's
the beautiful graphics, I'm not sure. It's just a lot more fun to
play than Exile was. I've had to use the in-game hint system a few
times, and that was nice, but you don't have to even enable it if you
don't want to.
Before I bought it I was a little worried that it might be another
dud, but it's definitely worth the price. I'm not sure that you can
get a refund, though, if you can't get it to work on your Mac. I seem
to remember a lot of complaints about URU not being returnable for any
reason,. (Several people had graphic card issues.) There's a list of
which video cards the game is compatible with and it's a pretty short
list. "At the time of release - ATI Radeon 7500-9600 or better, and
NVIDIA Geforce 2/4/FX families or better" were the only two listed.
Good luck.
