Is there some way to ignore these or get these deleted? Sorry for
being an obvious newb, but damn. I don't want to read about non-
Vvardenfell conspiracy theories.

a) Stop using Google Groups and install a standalone NewsReader program
on your PC (Thunderbird, Outlook, ...). A prerequisite is that your ISP
provides an NNTP "news" server. Desktop NewsReader programs have
"filters", "rules" or "killfiles" that you can use to make kooks disappear.

b) Report the problem to Google (good luck!)

I had kill files on him on all my newsgroups until he got "smart" and
started changing the names and headers on all of his posts. If you look
at the latest abuse you will notice that each sender and header is the
same except for one character, just enough to make it almost impossible
to build a kill filter as you would have to expect every permutation.

It's hard in Thunderbird since you can't use regular expressions in
filters. I tried XPN, Pan and Gravity before reverting to Thunderbird:

There's not many permutations so far - so I created this filter:
(*) match any of the following
Subject Begins with M I
Subject Begins with M-I
Subject Begins with M`I
Subject Begins with M'I
Subject Begins with M.I
Subject Begins with M,I

I created this filter at the server level so I don't have to create a
filter for every newsgroup this stuff is spammed to.

Doubtless it will require tweaking soon.
